I love the fact that he is the son of a former coach and NFL QB. He (and his dad) probably have a chip on their shoulder and a real motivation to show what he is capable of. I see this as a very positive potential situation for UCF.
We really need someone to step up this coming season so the Hawaii QB has some time to grow a little.
Who knows, but he did run this exact offense in HS and he understands the concepts and does not have to "unlearn" anything. The problem with our current batch of QBs is that they have to undo everything they have been taught; ever. That is a pretty tall order.I still don't know if the Hawaii guy is the answer. I think that we end up with a JUCO QB in the Dak Prescott mold.
I hope this becomes exciting in a good way! Such as an impressive fall practices/scrimmages and some wins this year!Frost also mentioned that the quarterback position is not a two-man race between Patti and Holman as most people suspect. He wants to keep it an open competition and let the best man win the starting spot during fall camp.
A dark-horse in this quarterback race is Kruczek, who is the son of former UCF coach, Mike Kruczek, and is the only quarterback on the roster that was hand-picked by Frost and his staff.
“Kruczek has a great arm. Really natural thrower, has a good stroke and a big arm,” said Frost of Kruczek. “We’re glad to have him. Garrett has a long way to go making sure that he’s familiar with what he’s doing, going through his reads and taking what people give him but the talent is definitely there and he had a good spring.”
The Knights had four quarterbacks last season take significant reps and some of it had to do with Holman’s injury, but a lot of it had to do with inconsistent play out of Holman, Harris and Bo Schneider.
