This story doesn't mention O'Leary once when it comes to BHNS. Everyone knows UCF did it because GOL asked for it. LIES!

It also says UCF did a study in 2002, before GOL was even on the radar as being our coach. LIES! The only reason we have a stadium is GOL. Build that man a statue!

FWIW, Jerry Roth is apparently one of the crusty old people that helped fund this retarded statue. For all the good he's done, he will now be remembered as that "meh" donor that helped us build a stadium, but also helped screw us in the long run by refusing to let GOL go.

I think most politicos would agree that John Hitt had much more to do with the stadium that GOL. Though, GOL certainly provided credibility to the program.

It was not Roth...it was not GOL. The city of Orlando was going to push us out of the Citrus Bowl for a season, and rather than play in a temporary stadium Steve Orsini came up with the plan to get it done.

When Orsini arrived on campus, he and Hitt were both adamant that playing in the Citrus Bowl was good and Orsini did not think we could afford to build our own stadium. When he first arrived, Orsini was very surprised at the support among students and fans for an on campus stadium, saying he was being asked about it multiple times every day.

That support/awareness was the result of Dan running multiple ads in the student newspaper (using a photo of the Louisville stadium) promoting the idea of an on campus stadium. So Dan had created a lot of excitement among students and hard core fans, but the stadium would not have happened when it did without the arrogance of the city of Orlando.
