McMurphy: ECU No longer a Big 12 candidate

"McMurphy reported ESPN could not confirm whether Memphis is a finalist." Booo Hooo for pussy.

I can't wait to see the Tiger meltdown when it's confirmed they didn't even make the top 12. They think a couple seasons of above average football make everyone forget about the previous decade of futility. Their only notable achievement was getting Derrick Rose on campus with fraudulent SATs.

EDIT: okay that was a bit harsh, they do have a consistently solid MBB program, but unless you're a UConn or Kansas level elite with multiple national titles, that won't get you in by itself

I haven't spent much thought speculating about the possible expansion candidates up til now but after reading how the list has been whittled down, something has made me feel really confident that it's going to be us and Cincy.

I don't know what it is...but I'm sure of it. It's as though God has spoken to me like Howard Beale.

The smart choice would be to add Memphis, UC, UConn, and UCF. That solves all their big market and regional deficiencies forever (and also might make them the top hoops conference!).
Of course, the Big 12 is known for making dumb choices, no choices, and never agreeing on anything.

It's still bullcrap that Polk county is counted as the Tampa DMA. Polk county folks shop and play in Orlando. Include them and we jump to like 14.
Hell with Polk. Volusia and Brevard only watch Orlando stations. The 85% of the west half of Volusia and much of Brevard since the space industry went belly up commute to Orlando for jobs. Add their 1.1 million and that puts us over 3.5 million, near the top 10!

I do know I'm biased against that ass memphis pussy, but really (and I don't follow BB) but hasn't memphis become just mediocre in basketball once they had to face a conference that wasn't C-USA in basketball. Just a casual looking at it, seems to me that SMU (tho breaking NCAA rules) has done a better job competing at a "higher" level than memphis has. Replace memphis with the overrated Houston (no- no Texas teams) .
