Meet your potential future QB and Right Fielder

I thought he was a CF? Either way, baseball coach just going to give him starting job or even a big role when he hasn’t even stepped on campus? He will have to stop baseball for Spring practice anyway so I’m assuming he won’t play much baseball.

I think so too; I’m assuming his odds of playing baseball are slim if he is QB and moderate if he’s a WR/Ath role.

In either case, It sounds like the dual sport possibility is one of the potential incentives we are offering if he comes our way, regardless of how realistic it is.

I haven't seen anything to suggest he's coming here yet.
Correct, only 3rd party chatter. He fits Gus' offense perfectly though and I think would have a ton of success with the playmakers he'd have on offense. Biggest question for him has got to be the OL. We might be suspect there.

First question is, would he come like next week or in the summer? He could play football and baseball for two seasons straight, right? Or if he wants baseball and football and be a wildcat QB for us the first football season here initially? Move the other transfer QB to TE, please :)

Meh, if throwing passes accurately and for alot of TDs is a required skill set , I would have wanted Bazelak instead or in addition to....

Accurate when needed, I think is the best way to put a perfect QB for this system. Gus clearly likes the running QB. This kid with our backfield, combined with speed on the outside and a pass-catching TE over the middle could be extremely dangerous.

Accuracy is always needed. Don't get me wrong, he looks like a tremendous athlete, lots of places we could use him. But at QB, the results have been poor....and since he has been in college 3 years, at this point he is who he is....he isn't a young guy with a high ceiling, he isn't a guy with 20 starts at QB (or even 10 starts). Even Kiffin and his staff decided he wasn't the answer at QB.....

Doesn't this sound alot like our Gatewood experience?

In addition, having a starting QB playing other sports at a high level means he isn't 100% vested in being the best QB he could be.

I have confidence Gus will make one more move even if Plumlee comes in (which I hope he does).

I hear you but Joey Gatewood doesn’t have any tape that looks like this.
True Freshman vs a 9-0 LSU team that would go on and win the National Championship.
I would feel really good bringing this guy in with TC (who should be on campus this weekend) and let them battle it out.
They are both very similar QB’s just that Plumlee has been in the fire before.

Hopefully some news breaks but man with our current depth chart we might as well run Navy’s offense
With the weapons we have at running back, I think there's an effective offense where we'd probably only ask Plumlee to throw 15-20 times a game. He could basically just be what Keene was for us this year, except he'd need to be a more dynamic runner (which he is) and be more effective in the deep passing game. (which I think he could be)

I would say that I hope any QB that comes in must win the job. I don't want any QB promised the starting gig. If the current bunch beats him out then so be it and they should be better for it. But if the coaches feel like more wins are there with the new guy, whoever it is, then I have to trust them in their judgment.

I want the competition, and the more guys Gus brings in the better the starter we end up with, theoretically at least. That's why I am excited to bring him in. I want to see how Keene responds to Plumlee and Castellanos. Keene has a good HS pedigree, had what I consider to be a successful start jumping into the starting role, and I would love to see him come back showing improvement to win the job. Which I think he'll do ultimately.

I think Plumlee is a much better runner than Gatewood, just smaller in stature. And although he definitely did not get the W's, he has a lot of experience as a starter. Gatewood on the other hand has barely touched the ball 100 times in the four years he's been playing. I also think Plumlee can cause a lot of problems for AAC defenses with his speed and agility. Gatewood is more of a plodder, power-running big fella.

He would be great in Gus' offense. Kind of a Quintin Flowers type but definitely faster and probably more athletic all around. By himself I would guess we'd win 10 games next season. With Bowser, Okeef, Robinson, and so many other excellent players returning...the upper limit would be undefeated.

Glad TC is coming in early having an experienced QB in the QB group is going to help the younger guys. You just cannot predict how long it's going to take a player out of highschool to develop. I hope we continue to see progress and confidence with Mikey.

Is the Rhys part of his first name, last name, nickname? I’m trying to figure out why he isn’t just John Plumlee?
