Men’s Basketball plays Memphis on ESPN 2

Down 13-3 right out of the gate.
Don’t worry everyone, we have them right where we want them.

Since it’s halftime I have a question.
I watched a little bit of a few different games today and saw some really exciting crowds.
Are the hundreds of empty seats that we see on tv at our games season ticket holders seats? Are these folks who never go to a game? I’m talking about the section right behind the benches, it looks so bad on tv, like it’s a high school game. Especially when you know the student section is packed. Is it cost effective to move the student section to half court??
I know that is more than one question!

#34 Diong looking like Hakeem Olajuwon in the 2nd half!!

Most Big 12 schools don’t have our problem. Neither does Duke but Cameron Crazies are at sideline. Sadly UCF doesn’t care as long as they are sold. Should let people move down if no one shows up.

7-31 from 3pt (20%) and lost by almost 30.
We are who we are at this point.

Only checked the score a few times. Thought we might stage a comeback during the beginning of the second half. We were down by 1? How did we lose by 28?

We were hitting some 3’s at the beginning of the 2nd half along with Diong playing well inside.
Then 3’s stopped going in and that spilled over into the defensive intensity and then it all went to hell.
The season in a nutshell.

No. The seats generate money.

I've been a supporter of Dawkins, but this season is shaping up to be really disappointing. They are currently below .500 in conference play and if that holds it will be three consecutive seasons below .500 in the American. The last good season -- 2018/19 -- was the tourney win with Tacko, B.J. Taylor and Chad Brown (Donnie's players) plus the coach's son. This year, with the entire roster back, should have been a turnaround. They have three seniors and two juniors in the starting lineup most nights, but it's looking like a third straight season in the bottom half of the conference. Next year will be a turnover year when they lose several multi-year starters and rotation players, but I guess in the end those guys didn't accomplish anything.

It’s becoming readily apparent that while Coach Dawkins in a nice guy, he is NOT a good coach. The proof is in the pudding, and his results are simply not what he was hired to do. He is at best a mediocre coach and motivator.

Glad to see how everyone is in agreement about Dawkins. Hope T Mo is already on the job search

Next year we're in trouble. Who do we have? :-(

Great points. Do we blame the players or coaches for underachieving?

Count me in the camp of believing coaches particularly Head Coaches get way too much credit and criticism. In UCFootball, way too little credit and criticism goes to the coordinators. I'm not sure in basketball how much assistants matter?

Football coach can't possibly oversee all the players that play in each game each with several groups that have distinct unique responsibilities that never cross over. Basketball coach is overseeing 10-12 people that actually see minutes that largely are instructed to do the exact same thing on the court.

Not to say basketball assistants don't do anything, but there is no players that works only with coordinator/position coach 90% of the time like in Football.
