Men's baseball beat the Canes last knight 10-5, great Victory! Can we keep it going? nm

Outside of the series loss to north Florida they have looked not too bad.

Man…I used to stick up for the baseball team and this coach but taking some L’s from some real inferior competition this year.

Also, Lovelady tucking his pen in his hat is weirdly irritating to me.

I gave up watching them 2 years ago. A team in Florida should never be bad at baseball. Rarely if ever winning a regional is beyond unacceptable. Time to move on to a new coach.

4 straight weekend series losses. All at home.

70% of the games so far have been at home. Majority of the remaining games is on the road.

Time to clean house. Unacceptable for a team playing in one of the best baseball areas in the country.

We should not be losing series at home to the likes of UNC Greensboro and Samford. SAMFORD!? The losses to the likes of UNF can happen, they always have a decent program in another talent rich area but still, we should be better than that.

Is it true that FL has tons of baseball talent? I understand the point that FL has great baseball weather but I have a friend (played D2) who says the majority of top talent comes from out west.

Florida and California. Big states with good weather for year round baseball.

In quantity more players come from California since there population is almost double Florida. However, if you broke down player per 100k population Florida and California difference is much smaller. Following link shows Florida being on top, but may have changed in the last 5 years. Numbers calculated off of 2011-2017 seasons.

Either way Florida has a massive advantage in college baseball with getting to play majority of their games at home or tournaments in the state while other schools have to travel.

UConn has consistently been a better program going to regionals 7 out of 11 years. This year they played 17 out of their first 18 games on the road. With half the games in California.

AAC currently projected to be a 1 bid conference. No one really stepped up in OOC schedule performance. According to RPI, AAC is 9th best conference. Tulane with best RPI, ECU behind but had much tougher schedule.

Greg is doing fine for a place like UCF.
Yeah. You aren’t going to get a bunch of stud coaches clamoring for a job where fans want a .600 coach fired at a school that has never made a super regional and has high school level facilities. We have had one average record under Lovelady which was last year when we were 1 run away from winning the conference. We are on the verge of a 5-1 conference start but because we lost a game against Memphis’ ace (who is top 5 in ERA and undefeated) the fire the coach chants get going again.

Jesus christ man, if you don't understand the definition of mediocrity then I can't help you.

You can pad the record with the Sienna's of the world, can talk about how we have never made a super regional (I still don't understand the logic of this argument), claim we were one run here or there away from being in first but the fact of the matter is Lovelady has been here for what, 6 years now and has one regional to show for it, in a state where schools like Stetson have made a super regional and have produced a bunch of stellar MLB talent.

You guys can make excuses all you want but he isn't getting it done. Period. We don't need a "stud hire", we need anything better than what we have.

Relax. I never said he was the answer to where you guys want the program to be. I simply said there is no answer. You aren’t going to get great coaches to come to a place that has no history of success, poor facilities, and .600 record gets you on the hot seat. So you can bitch about why he isn’t fired after we inevitably lose another game at some point. I’m telling you why. Also if you want to get technical he has coached 4 seasons that ended with postseasons thus far. He made 1 regional, was first four out twice, started 15-3 and season was cancelled and last year was .500 and a run away from a regional appearance. This is his fifth season with a shot at postseason.

That 15-3 would've turned into a 35 win season without a doubt.

First 4 out twice? Who cares?

And I'm not an expert on AAC baseball facilities, but despite playing in a poorly-designed stadium, I'm pretty sure as hell it beats playing in places like Wichita State, USF, Memphis and Cincy, especially given how UCF's campus as a whole is so desirable.

We can revisit this again when LL falls on his face again by the end of the season.

Fantastic. The past couple days and last weekend must have been a terrible experience for you. Enjoy.

Last weekend was so much fun, indeed.
Always love seeing our directionally challenged brethren to the West get swept like a decomposed rat into the gutter!
Especially sweet when it comes on the heels of the softball sweep. 😂

LL even argues like a pansy.
Well, whatever he argued about must have worked. Lovelady was very animated and directed some choice words to the Memphis coach and their dugout. Even the Memphis pitcher tried to take LL on after he was ejected and the pitcher himself was immediately ejected.
Craziest inning of college baseball I’ve ever seen.
Anyways… after a lot of deliberation, the head ump took the bat out of the stadium and eventually came back to rule that Sundean’s 3 run dinger was indeed legitimate. This kid‘s story and performance so far this season is amazing.
This was by far the funniest, craziest, most entertaining 41 minute first half of an inning I’ll ever see in my lifetime!!!!
Final score… UCF- 15, Memphis- 6.
FIRE LOVELADY! 😉

Ok then.

Would you care to wager we don't make it NEXT year as well?

This is if LL is still the coach.
Have no idea the makeup of the team next year. As it stands we are in a 1 bid league this year with an oft injured ace. Meaning whoever wins the conference tourney will get in and that’s it. So while it’s possible we could win it (an objectively worse team was 1 run away last year), from a betting standpoint I think the more likely outcome is we don’t win it. You are free to bet against us though, I just won’t take the action.

Well I think that speaks for itself regarding LL.

Anyone else wanna take this bet?
