Lmao @ misspelling academia. The irony is amazing.

From the article ...
"But the Trump administration has viewed the issue of sexual harassment on campus in a different light. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has scrapped Obama-era regulations on investigating sexual assault, arguing that they were skewed in favor of the accuser. New instructions allow universities to require higher standards of evidence when handling such complaints."
The thing is ... the Obama-era regulations are coming under massive scrutiny from every single law board in the US. They would never be allowed in courts of law, and there is a very long list of 'blacklisted' young men in the US now that are the casualties of the Obama-era regulations. In fact, most of the DeVos work has focused on finally addressing most of those "guilty until proven innocent" by clearing a lot of young men.
Most of the people leading the 'scrapping' of those regulations are ... gasp ... women.
The main problem isn't men. The main problem is ... tenure.
This is one of those self-re-enforcing, academia-only issues, where young people are at the mercy of 'untouchable' elders with tenure.
But we've made it about men, and their 'sexual aggressiveness,' and literally destroyed the futures of thousands of innocent men. Anyone who looks at some of the horror stories of what little it takes to not only get a man expelled, but blacklisted from attending college for a least a half-decade until he 'proves his innocence,' is unreal. And it utterly affects their livelihood once college is not an option, the details of their expulsion following them into the workplace.
Of course DeVos and a number of women -- several of them victims of rape themselves -- are tired of destroying men over bogus claims of just sexual harassment, that serve worse penalties than sexual assault, before they are even 21.
I'm going to assume 3 tenured professors are all from UCF?Times have changed a lot. I've known 3 fully-tenured professors in my short time in academia who have been fired for inappropriate sexual conduct. And that was in the *gasp* Arts. Everyone thinks tenure is a life sentence. It's not. It takes a chair who has the balls to hold faculty accountable for their conduct, research, and teaching success. The problem is that many have not, and thus, a cycle perpetuates that's essentially academic welfare. But it doesn't have to be that way. My father did this for over 40 years as a chair and dean. You didn't screw up in any capacity under his watch or you faced consequences--some of which could be quite severe.

Like politicians, do these tenured folks think they are above reproach/reprisal or something? I find it absolutely amazing that those in academia, you know, those that are responsible for teaching our young, would even consider taking advantage of their position. People suck.I’ve taught at three different schools in my time. These were ones I knew personally.

Yes, it's slowly changing. It's good to see.Times have changed a lot. I've known 3 fully-tenured professors in my short time in academia who have been fired for inappropriate sexual conduct. I'm just glad to see it's finally changing, but in the meantime, the problem continues to be a small subset of faculty abusing their positions. But the students suffer. The problem is that many have not, and thus, a cycle perpetuates that's essentially academic welfare. But it doesn't have to be that way.
