Guess the professor was a phd student from Saudi Arabia. This BS needs to stop not just at UCF but all universities.

No link. It happened yesterday and they told students not to tell anyone basically. Don't worry. I let my friend Sean Lavin know about it. So the story will come out today. You're welcome. [smoke]

How is a PhD student a professor at UCF? Are you talking about a TA?

If it is a TA, I can see that happening. A professor, not so much unless he is an adjunct

Lavin lives for shitting on anything UCF related. Why would you purposefully do that? Don't you remember the mass cheating story that came out a couple of years ago? Even though it was rather paltry, it left a PR nightmare for the university and damaged credibility.

PhD students teach classes at all universities. If you teach at a university, you're a professor. [smoke]

Sean is a great guy and a friend of mine. Holding someone accountable like your child isn't shitting on them, its loving them and wanting them to be better. Sean is every bit as big of a UCF fans as you and me. [smoke]

Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot that holding accountable = airing dirty laundry in the press. My bad. I guess every time your kid does something wrong you're calling the news.*

This thread is useless without links.

Mod, please ban until OP provides a link to the story.

K? Thx!

Bro, this is the inside scoop from the intern who is in the class. They told them to "not contact additional authorities until they finish their investigation." But they announced what happened to students yesterday. Could the intern be lying? Sure. I'm just passing along the inside scoop. [smoke]

Get the sand out of your vag. The kid was an analogy for loving someone or something with tough love. The best way to straighten out an organization's misconduct through social justic which the media needs to lead. Hiding you're misconduct is unethical. Facts Jack. [smoke]

There's a not-so-subtle difference between hiding/covering up and running to the press. I don't think you're smart enough to understand the difference or the consequences. Take a lap.

You clearly are too emotionally vested and been emotionally compromised to be logical in this situation. All stories like this will come out. It will be public. The worst thing an organization can do is hide or cover it up. Just like in recruiting, hiding a known issue = death penalty. Self-disclosing = slap on the wrist.

UCF knew about this yesterday and took evasive action. Find a link smart guy. No link means they are covering it up. How slow do you have to be for me to have to spell that out for you?

I'm taking you out of the game. Don't get off the posting bench until I tell you that you can. [smoke]

You call yourself honors but go blabbing about something you were told to hold off on repeating. Not very honorable.

Be careful what you wish for. Next thing you know you're going to be receiving urgent phone calls and emails begging you to stop bashing this professor. Then, the administration will probably break out in a drenched sweat if they ever run into you in public as for some reason, they'll be scared to death from your "knowledge" of the situation.

Are whistleblowers acting without honor? Personally I think it's honorable to do the right thing and out people who try to cover up very unethical behavior. Sorry you're wrong. The Supreme Court, all legal scholars and most ethics philosophers agree that what I'm doing is Right and Honorable.

No. No it doesn't. I've fired people before for unethical behavior. I dealt with the situation appropriately and didn't go announce it to the world. But I guess in your eyes, mob justice is the only way to deal with things. Sad.

Bob, get back on the bench.

  1. This isn't a private matter
  2. A state institution is hiding serious ethical issues
  3. The professor has already been fired
  4. The students who gave the bribes have already been expelled ~25% of a very large class
  5. UCF is hiding their action
  6. Sit back down on the bench[smoke]

It wouldn't be the first time that has happened to me. [smoke]

Edit: K_L can vouch for me that has happened with me before. [smoke]

Those four statements are not congruous. If it was an ethical issue and the prof wasn't fired and students not expelled, that would be an additional ethical issue. But it isn't. The university has already fulfilled their ethical responsibility and dealt with the situation appropriately. I'm not sure what running to the press does here. You're overreacting.

No you are overrating. I sat you on the no posting bench so you'll have time to emotionally deal with this bad news. And you keep getting off the bench by posting rubbish which I need to sit you back down and explain it to you.

If you discover a case of unethical behavior you first take evasive action (which UCF did) and then you explain to your stakeholders (all alumni and all Floridians) what happened. UCF had failed to do the latter. By failing to announce, they are covering it up. Shit Bob, you're smarter than needing me to explain this. Clearly you're taking this too hard / personally. The bench is a good place for you now. [smoke]

LOL. Go back to class, junior. Only idiots with an agenda want to silence dissent out of fear that their position may be proven to be fraudulent.

Exactly, This is exactly what UCF is doing right now, "Only idiots with an agenda want to silence dissent out of fear that their position may be proven to be fraudulent." You're finally getting my point. Don't cover things up if you did the right thing.

I'm taking you off the bench and putting you back in the posting game. You can thank me later. [smoke]

BTW, honors, your press release is here:

And are we sure it was bribes at the hospitality school? Maybe he was teaching them how to solicit tips...

It's actually the general Finance class, Business Finance, that all business majors and Rosen kids take. Interesting enough, The Mr. Rosen's daughter is in this class. I'm trying to find out if she is single as we speak. [smoke]

I'm happy UCF is finally releasing this info. No doubt, I'm the reason for this press release which happened 16mins ago. [smoke]

He's like the Bruce Jenner of whistle blowers.

He's like the Bruce Jenner of whistle blowers.

Did a quick Google search, and nothing came up of Bruce Jenner ever being a whistleblower... So, I'm going to take that as meaning a huge compliment towards me saving the day.

I knew some real posters would give me my due credit. [smoke]

You don't get the title Professor just because you are teaching at a university. The guy was a GTA, which is what I said at the beginning.
For University of Texas website:
Teaching assistants are graduate students who help faculty with the conduct and delivery of courses.
Although they are NOT members of the faculty, teaching assistants are expected to conform to the same standards of conduct in the performance of their academic duties as are members of the faculty and shall respect the rights and opinions of students and uphold the academic standards of the University.
Please change your username, either delete UCF or honors

Correct. They do not get to be officially called professor unless they are full-time faculty. Otherwise, they are Adjunct or GTA.

Whistleblowing is reporting a situation so that it can be resolved. What you're doing is telling the media. It's kinda like calling the news stations to report an overturned vehicle on the highway, instead of calling 911 or FHP.

Let's start from the top. UCF was covering this up. I whistleblowed the situation. Then UCF heeds to my warning and does a press release. Now this issue is resolved bc of me. You're welcome. [smoke]
