Mike Aresco: Strike Now!

I was thinking the same but when you look at who is in the Mountain West, you'd think they'd go after some teams out east.
I do see how we have the advantage since BYU has already tried that route.

Byu, Boise, AF, and Army
Boise brings a national audience. Air Force and Army moves the Commander in Chiefs Trophy to the American. Prepare to have tons of games on CBS Sports though.
BYU can keep their network and its deal with ESPN. All that should equal a better TV deal.
I can imagine CBS not being happy with Boise State leaving though since they have a deal for the MWC title game.

Army yes, because you get the Army/Navy game. BYU and Boise will be a constant pain in the ass and are too far. Plus BYU will want to be football only and do you really want anything other than Boise football? Don't know who #14 should be.

i agree... football only for all four.

What incentive would Boise have to move to a Conference that would require more travel and a harder path to an Access Bowl?

They have an easier path every season vs Programs out West that don't care enough to consistently invest in their Programs like Houston or UCF.

True. BYU, Army, Air Force and Colorado State for the Denver market.
I noticed Northern Illinois applied for the Big 12, why not consider them...although they suck now.

Because if they lose one game, they are passed over by even a 1 loss AAC team. They have to be perfect each and every year. That's not necessarily the case in a better conference.

Northern Illinois, Central Michigan, Southern Mississippi, Western Kentucky, Toledo, Appalachian State and Bowling Green present programs that could add value, are on this side of the world and don't encroach on recruiting areas of existing members.

Boise has a great deal that differentiates from the rest of the conference. Also the Mountain West has some solid programs left like Fresno State, SDSU, Colorado State, Nevada and Air Force.

The service acadamies bring very little to table outsudw of 1 game a year. They aren't consistent enough to be in any discussion to raise us to P6.

Questionable. Still monopolizing the service academies can add value for a better tv deal. It would be great to see Army-Navy under the American banner finishing out the regular season on CBS.

We still have 3 years before we could go to open market. Aresco does not need to rush. The only reason to add now would be if ESPN agreed to an extension now. I doubt ESPN is going to give us a huge bump in remaining 3 years, before extension begins.. If he adds, the ideal would likely be sign them a year from now... starting a year later.

In 8 years, we should be able to grab TCU and WVU. With a little luck, maybe even TT and OKSt.

I was thinking do a Mountain West. All the 11 (what the hell add Memphis and a few others) of the beauty pageant contestants should get together and talk about forming a new league.

My choices would be, in no specific order:
  1. Boise State (obvious reasons)
  2. Southern Miss (good football, strong overall athletics, location)
  3. Colorado State (location)
  4. Old Dominion (location, strong basketball, lots of money)
Then I would split the divisions like this (New member in BOLD):

East Division:
  • UCF
  • us(i)f
  • Temple
  • UCunt
  • ezu
  • Cinci
  • Old Dominion
  • Southern Miss
West Division
  • Navy (they have requested to be in the west, so leave them there)
  • Memphis
  • Houston
  • Tulsa
  • Tulane
  • SMU
  • Boise State
  • Colorado State
I'd schedule 9 conference games, 1 FCS, 2 P5. This would be a monster conference that would expand over many TV networks and create great revenue streams for all major sports.

fyi, Marc Daniels this morning said on his radio show this morning that he thinks Aresco is looking to expand the conference now. Mentioned a few schools. Very interesting. Maybe it will happen. I think the more eyeballs you have on the conference across the country the better. Too bad the Big12, or should I say the Little10 do not have that vision.

Are you positive he said it this morning? :)

Air Force, Army, Boise, FIU. Dont ignore our rival down south.
I wouldn't mind the Academies, but FIU has proven they don't know how to run a football program and will not add any revenue stream we can't get by having us and us(i)f in the same conference. They and FAU are a big no no until they learn how to play the game.

tune in later tonight when I'm on the beer sauce. LOL.
I actually thought you were on it already this morning this morning.
