Most useless thing you got for your baby, so we avoid that crap.

LMK, everything will be fine. Having kids is like getting married and anal, you just have to trust you're ready and go for it. You can/will deal with the side effects as they come along and everything will be fine.

And as a man, I recommend you breast feed as long as possible. Dingy will get a DD for the next 6-9 months.
everything you said made me burst out laughing. well done. lol

Breast feed as long as you can, even if you are pumping. Your kid will thank you for it as it has tremendous benefits in brain development and immunity issues.

If you go formula don't be a cheap bastard and get the stuff with the DHA in it. It apparently most closely resembles mother's milk for brain development.

And most of all, just trust your gut. Everybody parents differently and every kid is different.

I'm going to play devil's advocate and say there is ZERO reaosn to buy Similac or Enfamil. 100% of all formula meets the same requirements set by the FDA - levels of all nutrients components must be in a specific range.
Like with other FDA drugs, generics are just as safe and carry the same health benefits. THe name-brands are more expensive because the send millions of dollars advertising and loading every hospital, pediatric office, and drug store with free samples. Save money on formula - this according to our Peditrician.

Also - breast feed as long as you can - as long as the baby can;t ask for the milk using words. Invest in a nice pump (dingy would probably be into that anyway....) and use formula mearly as a supplement at least until the kid starts getting some teeth. IMO

The problem we had with the diaper genie was we had it in the babies nursery but rarely went into the nursery to change the diaper. With our first kid we lived in a small condo so it was no big deal to walk to the nursery and throw it in but with the next two we are in a much bigger place so I'm not going to change the diaper downstairs and walk upstairs to throw it in the genie. Pee diapers can easily go in the regular trash and poop can go in a plastic shopping bag outside.. With our 3rd kid we didn't even get the genie out and I think we ended up throwing it away at some point.

One more thing I want to recommend you avoid: mommy blogs and Facebook groups. As first-time parents you will continue to look for advice and support, unfortunately many parenting groups are out there to serve as echo chambers for their anti-science, woo-pushing and child-endangering beliefs (chief among them, anti-vax). It's easy to get scared by and buy into this garbage when you have a new human life you are responsible for all of the sudden.

Trust your family and close friends' advice, trust your pediatrician.

Yeah, I hear you- I was invited to one mommy group and I noped out of there real fast- If I want to deal with the bitchiness and the one-upsmanship ("oh you buy organic? I make my own organic food because I love my child more") that seems to happen in most of those groups, I would go back to high school.
