Let's start with his contract:
His contract expires Nov 2017, after 12/1/14 no buyout unless he goes to a PAC team or WVU
2014 Guaranteed money was around $1.95M (close to O'Leary)
He is rumored to want to return to the east coast (Tucson is kind of a dump overall)
His accomplishments:
6 bowl games in his 7 years at WVU including his teams Fiesta Bowl win in his last year
Improved every year at Michigan, this was not a good fit for him
He has gone to a bowl every year with U of Arizona including Fiesta Bowl last year winning the PAC south
His offense:
The zone read is 25 years old now (his baby) and he runs out of that offense 60-70% of the time which is custom made for Florida talent (better running QBs vs passing)
This would be a very exciting brand of football the younger UCF fans would enjoy
Recruiting:
He is 52 years, has been around long enough to know the recruiting game and has the clout to go after big time talent.
He does most of his work with a 3 and 4 stars
He hit Florida hard during his time at WVU and some at Michigan.
The upside is higher in Orlando vs Tucson as U of A is an after-thought in the PAC and if we want to make a splash without breaking the bank this guy fits the bill IMO.
