Why the hell are they tazing an unarmed naked person?

It’s a good thing for her that she was white. Cops would have blasted her 47 times with their sidearms and there would have been no body cam footage if otherwise.

I guess he could’ve thrown her to the ground and fought with her to get restraint to put cuffs on her all the while grinding her into all that glass on the floor from her tirade all with her shouting about him touching her and molesting her. I’m sure that would’ve been far more preferable than what actually happened.

Damn straight. And he could have copped a feel as well.

I showed the video to my wife and she said that she’s like to see the body camera but the officer may have been quick on the taser. My thinking is that he gave her orders to get on the ground and she kept advancing.

Unarmed, and nude, 110 lb., 53 year olds are such a threat.

This is the problem. You guys NEVER see a problem with excessive force. There was no need to bust out the tazer.

So the officer was supposed to do what? Fight with her? Roll around on all the broken glass and get cut up himself? F that noise, don’t do stupid shit and you won’t get tased. Stop standing up for criminals over law enforcement.

Without knowing the math on tasers (how often they can cause additional harm), that seems like a reasonable way to safely end the situation. That said, the cop was not talking to her like I would have expected. There doesn't seem to be any difference from his end here from someone who could realistically pose a threat to him and this naked crazy lady.

I see it like this - this lady is naked and breaking alcohol bottles. She poses zero actual threat to anyone except herself, while posing an insignificant risk to property. So from my perspective, the role of the police officer here is not to protect beer bottles or other people - but to protect her from herself.

Ultimately, I think he does that - just not how I would have expected. I don't expect LEO's to be shrinks, but it just feels like he's reacting in a robotic way for a completely different situation than he's actually facing. He closes the distance to her, yells get down, tases her, and continues to yell "get down." It seems like his plan was to close the distance and tase her from the outset. He's basically Uncle Jimbo yelling "it's coming right for us!".

The people tazing and shooting unarmed people are the criminals. Stop kissing their asses.

53 years old and 110 lbs. tops.

Sure, tazer was the only logical ending here.

Anybody else notice the employees were more interested in videotaping her than stopping her? :)

The girl was literally destroying the business and chucking bottles at the officer.
Please take note: Another rare example of KNIGHTTIME and me agreeing on something.

I'm sure if you really ran a business you would allow some drugged up girl to destroy your business.

This is funny. The cops are now supposed to wait until they completely destroy the business and get tired.
The employees should have just beaten the living crap out of her and thrown her bloody ass out in the parking lot. Why the police need to be involved in this stuff makes little sense.

With logic this poor, I can see why you believe tazing is the only option.

110 lbs., and 53 years old. No other option but to taze, one step below actually shooting her. You guys are morons.

That is an even better option than what actually happened. One 6'0" man could have grabbed her and gotten her out of there, but no, we need to make sure we bring out the big guns! Respect the cops, bro!

The cop should have just punched her in the mouth. Knock the bitch out and call it a day.

So you want an employee touching a naked women. That won't end well. I'm sure blooming brands was good with the cops instead of a lawsuit.
Your poor logic is showing again. Why do you always need to jump to absurdities?

Ended the way it should. She gets arrested with multiple charges and she doesn't hurt anyone or herself. Another win for the heros in blue.

I'm all for trying to talk through a situation rather than using force but, to be fair to the cop, he only tasered the wacko.

I think its important to point out that while the culprit was a 35 years old, 110 lbs. female, she was also buck naked and lobbing around expensive bottles of wine like they were hand grenades.

This is a reasonable assessment. It’s always hard to analyze these from the limited view that we have on one cellphone camera and without context. My wife was of a similar feeling that the girl looked like she might be giving herself up so the taser may not have been warranted at that moment. What is absolutely certain is that no one suffered any lasting injuries and the girl was apprehended.
Maybe if he tries to talk to her she runs back behind the bar, grabs a knife and uses it on herself or throws it at someone. I think my wife’s dad (career LEO (ret) as well) would’ve done something more like what this guy did. But they’re cops from different eras and that does make a difference. As does their genders, which can make a huge difference, especially when dealing with female suspects.

Exactly. No deadly force was used.

The woman threw a wine/beer bottle at the cop when he first entered the restaurant so its not like she didn't pose any threat.

Whose job is it at Outback to fight the crazy person? I’ve never worked at a restaurant; I’m curious whose job description includes fighting lunatics.

I have no problem with crazy naked skank getting tased. She'll live. This is a stupid argument.

Chemmie isn’t exactly a thinker. I doubt he answers the simple question.
You asked a question about a ridiculous hypothetical ("employees should have just beaten the living crap out of her and thrown her bloody ass out in the parking lot.") that I commented sarcastically would be a better alternative to what actually happened.

And then you say it is a "simple question" and I'm not a thinker. You didn't think that one through, hillbilly. Then again, I don't expect better from rednecks in TN.

Chemmie engaging in some hardcore prejudiced stereotyping. He’s a bad person.

Lol...I didn't think this would be an excessive force conversation. The girl was literally destroying the business and chucking bottles at the officer.
I think it's a question of empathy. How do you treat human beings when their brain is failing them?

Really shocked this turned into police hate considering the cop immediately stopped the situation.
Really shocked I'm continuing to agree with KNIGHTTIME on this one.

First off, she wasn't shot and injured, she was tasered. Second, if the officer had tasered a man under the exact, same circumstances, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Women can be violent too -- and this one was.

It's from a police report and they always get things backwards. She's 35.
Naw, she is a solid 53. A faces of meth 35, maybe. It is Ocala, so perhaps a horse breeder’s mistress with some work done.

The big question is, why use a taser when you have all those boomerangs hanging all over the place? Police are bad at using the resources around them.

It is also clear that the shape of the bar made her think she had walked to the bottom of a Minecraft shaped rainbow. She was digging for a pot of gold. Again police miss an opportunity. If the academy doesn’t teach officers how to lure a drug addled woman down from a bar by pretending to a leprechaun, then I don’t know what they do there.

This is a good question and can be difficult for law enforcement. The problem is a threat is a threat and at some point it doesn’t matter whether that threat is sane or insane. If they aren’t posing a threat to themselves or others, then you can be more talkative and this happens all over the country multiple times every night. PDs have many frequent fliers that are batshit crazy that they deal with and largely there are no incidents.

It all changes when the BSC person is being violent or has access to a weapon. Then the my are a threat and that threat should be neutralized as quickly as possible to minimize damage to everyone involved, including the BSC person. Thankfully, tasers are nearly 100% effective against naked people so that appears to be a good choice in this instance. That’s not always the case.
