Who said I'm all bent out of shape. I'd just like to see some equity in the way the DoJ is handling the many insurrections. The DoJ is choosing to make a political spectacle of investigating and charging the January 6 suspects so I'd like to see the same thing with the Portland insurrection and occupation, the Seattle insurrection and occupation, the Minnesota insurrections and occupation, etc. If the department is actually full of non-partisan professionals, then let's see them act the same with the groups.
Sounds like you're both choosing to ignore prosecution of Portland protests and somehow equating what protestors in Portland did to an attempted insurrection and disruption of a peaceful transition of power.

Very disingenuous.

Here's just one person who had a laser that entered a guilty plea in federal court in Portland:

Jan 6, just like all the riots had 2 groups involved, a smaller group stirring things up, and a bigger group that got caught up in the emotions of the moment. People in the rally of Jan 6 that didn't get involved have said they saw 2 very different groups of 10 to 20 in each that were stirring the pot. One group was dressed mostly in black military garb, which were most likely the right wing militia groups, that planned ahead, the second some what smaller group, I heard at least 2 witnesses saying about 10 or 12, were wearing black t shirts, and wore their MAGA hats backwards, Those who watched that group all thought they were Antifa.

The vast majority 98% who were at the rally and the riots were simply voicing their opinions, as is their right. Whether you or I agree with that opinion doesn't matter, and their character should not be questioned. Those who got caught up in the moment, should be charged for what they did, and those who instigated it should have the book thrown at them.
There are always people 'following the crowed' and a supermajority aren't even in a position to see 'what's going on' until it's 'too late' and they are already 'in the middle of it,' if they see it at all.

That's how and why even left-wing, independent reporters got 'caught up' in the Capitol too!

I honestly believe both various rioters as well as plenty of Jan 6th individuals got into the Capitol, before they knew they weren't 'let in' to various places.

The key is, and the FBI and DC police have been keen on doing such, is to actually go after the people who 'challenged' security, and actually executed 'criminal acts.'

Unfortunately that doesn't stop the 'Internet vigilantes' that are doxx'ing and reporting people to their employers, not just the FBI or law enforcement.

And it's amazing how many people who weren't even there have been 'caught up' in it all. This includes some of my own, Democratic voting friends who work in DC.

I notice how you conveniently dodged the inner part of my question...
I had a longer response, but when I went to post it, I got a message saying I needed to accept cookies or something. So I just posted a shorter, less concise response.

Anyway, I have no idea what political zealots would do to them given the chance. Throw crap probably. Cults of personality have convinced people to do crazy crap throughout history. I could see it going either way. They might have even forced Pence into a room with a woman.

I think all involved with criminal activity need to be charged and if possible convicted. That includes those who just let their emotions get the better of them. And those who did everything possible to stir it up should get doubly charged. That is true in both the Jan 6 mob scene and the Riots. Criminal acts of violence are not acceptable.

Now it is time to defund the Washington police force, which totally did not do their jobs, and tear down the walls around the capital. If it is good for ordinary citizens, cities and the border it is good for spoiled brat politicians.

I think the issue is the idea of using the term "insurrection". By definition, any attack on any government building to make a change would be an insurrection, and that would include a lot of things that happened last year.. Nobody would have a problem calling it a riot, but its all just about the rhetoric at this point.
A person was shot and killed by a Secret Service agent because they were a close threat to the security of the Vice President. Imminent threat was neutralized, and every other one of those buffoons saw it and reconsidered their actions at that very moment. And you still won't conclude it was a violent attempt to attack our government. The Secret Service did. Why can't you?

When was the last time the Secret Service shot and killed a threat to the VP or President?

You literally got every point of that post wrong. Here’s a justice dept. report favorable to the shooter that you can reset your understanding with. Might also want to watch the video of the shooting to see the officers standing within feet of her that didn’t respond to an imminent threat with deadly force. Then look at the pictures to determine for yourself if she was going to actually make it through that door considering all the stuff they had it barricaded with. No excuse for her actions, just would be nice if you actually knew what happened there.

LOL.
Suddenly you're NOT on the side of the authoritarian shooter. Maybe if it was an unarmed black guy with his hands up, and not an angry mob of white people within striking distance of the Vice President, you would get on your knees and suck the SS as if they were beat cops.

Dude, you can’t even admit that he got the facts wrong?
You're the poster who said to Chemmie, and I quote, "You literally got every point of that post wrong."

I highlighted one of the points you apparently thought was erroneous. Did you respond by saying, "okay, maybe he didn't get EVERYTHING wrong"?

Of course not, you ignored it.

Ok, so there was violence towards property and verbal threats to some. The only person who was actually killed by violence in the riot was Ashli Babbitt. Unless you want to count the one person who fell down outside the capitol building and was trampled.

The SS dude is ok because he shot an unarmed white woman.

He wasn't secret service. He was Capitol Police. The Secret Service managed to contain the leftist insurrection without allowing entry to the White House or (AFAIK) killing anyone.

Contain the leftist insurrection? No entry to the WH without AFAIK killing anyone? What are you talking about?
