Why do politicians care about a child's gender more than the child does?
Consumer equality. The government has to ensure no banner shall offend anyone ... at least as defines offense, as no one else's view counts. Why do politicians care about a child's gender more than the child does?
That's actually a good question. How does this work in practice for the stores?Who gets to decide what is gender neutral and what is not?
Pretty sure the only non gender neutral toys are found at adults only stores. That's actually a good question. How does this work in practice for the stores?
Why do you reflexively assume it's always "butthurt"? Is it not possible in your mind to see something and just think that it's stupid, and say that it's stupid? You guys have a lot of butthurt.
For the record, I don't understand this. But, I don't really care, either. Just be nice to people who are different, especially kids.
You guys don't just say "that's stupid." Your comments are snide, and filled with hate and scorn. The human beings you're ridiculing have enough on their plate to worry about without neanderthals constantly insulting them. Why do you reflexively assume it's always "butthurt"? Oh wait, you just did that yourself. I guess you are butthurt too.
You don’t think the government CAN overreach, do you?You guys have a lot of butthurt.

My understanding is that it's about giving kids more options growing up. For example, if a girl wants to play with little toy soldiers, I don't think it's asking too much that there be both men and women soldiers for her to play with. For the record, I don't understand this. Do I think it is a good idea to encourage more options for children? Yes.My understanding is that it's about giving kids more options growing up. Truth is, toys have always been stereotyped. Ones for boys tend to be related to fighting or aggression (action figures--soldiers, wrestler, fantasy warriors, guns, etc.) while ones for girls tend to be related to appearance or 'home-making' (Barbie dolls, doll houses, baby dolls, makeup jewelry, etc.)
When our kids (1 boy, 1 girl) were growing up, Mrs Shuckster was adamant that our son NOT grow up playing with toy weapons. That was fine by me. But Mom and Dad quickly discovered that making these kinds of declarations were easier said than done. We crumbled and ended up buying him toy plastic swords when we found him and a neighbor friend having backyard 'sword fights' with sticks. Sigh, oh well.
Ditto. 👍Do I think it is a good idea to encourage more options for children? Yes.
Do I think the government needs to make some kind of mandate? Nah.
All they have to do is remove any signage referring to boys and girls and take down any pink or blue backdrops and they're good. At least that's what Target did.Who gets to decide what is gender neutral and what is not?
The same people who say Ayn Rand and American Libertarians are racists and bigots.Who gets to decide what is gender neutral and what is not?
