They have a couple on staff that could be named OC too, but Heup is calling the plays.
If Hitt is tuned in, he should have been taping practices, how we lift, how we eat, etc... Valuable information to have, so you can get it to the new staff. Obviously, we have been doing a lot right in the last two years and a lot of it should be maintained.

If these HCs are going to be calling their own plays we'll never be able to hire from within.

Came from Missouri with Heupel. Spent 4 years in NFL as strength and conditioning assistant with the 49ers.
Since with was with the 49ers during those years, that means he comes with the Chip Kelly scientific strength and conditioning program.

He's the Head of the University, football is just part of the athletics which is part of a university. I'd rather have him tuned into making UCF a giant, oh wait he already did. Let the AD worry about football, which is part of what his job contains, so the maybe let the new HC worry about football. Now that makes sense.

I heard an interview where Frost was bringing practice tapes of Griffen to show Nebraska players. Aren’t those UCF property?
I tried to find out if i just missed it or if it hasnt happened. Has Heupel still not hired an OC? Also looking and see that there is no official S&C listed here http://ucfknights.com/coaches.aspx?path=football is it just me or does this seem to be worrying? who is conditioning the team currently? I get most (90+%) from here regarding UCF. I understand Heupel was OC so maybe he is just looking for someone to fit the role of coaching specialty but still seems odd to not have one named.
ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF Football head coach Josh Heupel announced the addition of seven new staff members today. Jon Cooperand Nick Toth round out the on-field coaching staff, while five others will serve in support staff roles.
Cooper will coach the tight ends, while Toth will serve as the special teams coordinator.
Cameron Coffman has been named assistant director of football operations. Matt O'Brien is an offensive quality control analyst. Mitch Militello and Micah James will serve as graduate assistants. Derek Owings has joined the staff as an assistant director for sports performance.
JON COOPER – TIGHT ENDS
Jon Cooper joined the UCF Football staff in January of 2018. He will serve as the tight ends coach for the Knights.
Cooper spent the previous two seasons as an offensive analyst at Missouri under then-offensive coordinator Josh Heupel. He helped the Tigers offense explode and lead the SEC in yards per game, passing yards and points per game.
In his final season in Columbia, Mo., Cooper helped the offensive line finish the year ranked No. 7 in total offense, No. 7 in sacks allowed, No. 10 in scoring offense, No. 14 in passing offense, No. 21 in first downs, No. 23 in red zone offense and No. 35 in rushing offense.
Prior to working at Missouri, Cooper served as a graduate assistant at Utah State. In his lone season with the Aggies, the offense climbed 21 spots to 60th in the nation in scoring offense, even with losing its starting quarterback to injury.
Cooper went to Utah State after two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Oklahoma, where he helped the Sooners to a 19-7 record, including 45-31 victory over Alabama in the 2014 Sugar Bowl.
Prior to joining the staff at Oklahoma, his alma mater, Cooper spent four seasons in the NFL. He played 13 games during his first three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, and made his first career start against the Dallas Cowboys at center.
Cooper originally joined the Vikings in 2009 as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma. The native of Fort Collins, Colo., signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2012 and retired after spending one season with the club.
A three-year starter at center for Oklahoma, Cooper was tabbed the Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year as a senior in 2008 while blocking for Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford. During his playing days with the Sooners, Cooper helped lead OU to a 42-12 overall record and spot in the BCS National Championship game as a senior, while garnering two All-Big 12 selections.
Cooper graduated from Oklahoma in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in human relations.
NICK TOTH – SPECIAL TEAMS
Nick Toth was hired as the special teams coordinator in January of 2018. He came to Orlando after serving as the spurs/nickels coach at the United States Air Force Academy for one season.
Toth helped the Falcons rank 10th in the nation in opponent passing at 171.1 yards per game. Marquis Griffin was named All-Colorado after notching 66 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and six pass breakups.
Prior to joining Air Force, Toth spent five season at Fresno State, with the first four as the defensive coordinator while also coaching for the inside linebackers. His defense drew 17 All-Mountain West Conference selections and one All-America performer in safety Phillip Thomas, a unanimous selection in 2012. Thomas was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, won the CFPA Defensive Back Trophy and was the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year after leading the nation with eight interceptions.
After having only nine turnovers gained in 2011, the year before Toth's hiring, Fresno State came back in 2012 and recorded the greatest turnover turnaround in the FBS since the turn of the century. Finishing with 35 takeaways in 2012 (ranking fifth in the FBS), the Bulldogs' differential in turnovers gained in one season under Toth was plus-26.
His 2013 defense ranked sixth in the FBS with just over three sacks per game and 40 total on the year and also ranked fourth with 8.2 tackles for a loss per game. Over the 2012 and 2013 seasons, Fresno State and Stanford were the only schools in the country that ranked in the top 10 in sacks both seasons.
Prior to Fresno State, Toth coached at Texas A&M where he was the outside linebackers coach while also serving as the Aggies' special teams coordinator in 2010 and 2011.
In his first season with the Aggies, Toth oversaw the development of linebacker Von Miller, who captured the prestigious Butkus Award during an All-American campaign in 2010. Miller went on to be the No. 2 overall pick of the Denver Broncos in the 2011 NFL Draft.
Prior to his two seasons at Texas A&M, Toth was the defensive backs coach and special teams coach at The Citadel in 2009.
Toth gained three years of experience working as a defensive coordinator from 2006-08. In 2006, he was the defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach at Mercyhurst (Pa.) college and from 2007-08 he was Ashland (Ohio) University's defensive coordinator.
Toth has also logged coaching experience at at Elon, Ohio and Dakota State.
A graduate of Ohio University in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in political science, Toth played running back and defensive back for the Bobcats form 1994-99. He also holds a master's degree in athletic administration from Ohio in 2002.
Toth is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and was born on Oct. 16, 1975. He and his wife, Jennifer, have three sons; Nicholas IV, Michael and Johnathon, and one daughter, Susan.
CAMERON COFFMAN – ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR FOOTBALL OPERATIONS
Cameron Coffman joined the UCF Football staff in January of 2018. He will serve as the assistant director for football operations.
Coffman was a four-year starter in college, finishing as the signal-caller at Wyoming. He sat out the 2014 season due to NCAA transfer rules and took over the offense for the 2015 campaign. Coffman posted a career-high 63.1-percent completion percentage to go along with 18 touchdowns and 1,939 yards through the air.
He began his career at Arizona Western, where he threw for 2,244 yards and 21 touchdowns with a 61.4-percent completion percentage in 2011.
After transferring to Indiana for the 2012 and 2013 seasons, Coffman tallied 2,763 passing yards and 15 touchdowns in 14 games with the Hoosiers. In a banner season, he finished third on IU's single-season lists in completion percentage, fourth in passing yards, completions and attempts, seventh in total offense and tied for seventh in passing TDs. He was an Academic All-Big Ten selection in 2013.
MATT O'BRIEN – OFFENSIVE QUALITY CONTROL
Matt O'Brien joined the UCF Football staff in January of 2018. He will serve as the Knights' offensive quality control coach.
O'Brien arrived in Orlando spending time as an offensive graduate assistant at Missouri.
MITCH MILITELLO – OFFENSIVE GRADUATE ASSISTANT
Mitch Militello arrived in Orlando in January of 2018. He will serve as an offensive graduate assistant for the Knights.
He previously served worked as a student at Missouri and holds a bachelor's degree from Mizzou.
MICAH JAMES – OFFENSIVE GRADUATE ASSISTANT
Micah James joined the UCF Football staff as an offensive graduate assistant in January of 2018.
He previously spent one year as a graduate assistant at Maryland for the 2017 season. With the Terrapins, James worked with First Team All-Big 10 receiver D.J. Moore, who ranked ninth in the nation in receptions per game with 6.7.
Prior to Maryland, James worked as a graduate assistant at Arkansas State during the 2015 and 2016 campaigns, seasons which both culminated with bowl victories.
James began his coaching career at A-State after completing an All-Sun Belt Conference playing career at Middle Tennessee State University in 2012, which was followed by an invitation to participate in the Atlanta Falcon's and Dallas Cowboys' rookie mini-camps in 2013.
James earned his bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee in 2012.
DEREK OWINGS – ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR SPORTS PERFORMANCE
Derek Owings joined the UCF Football staff in January of 2018 to serve as the assistant director for football sports performance.
Prior to landing in Orlando, Owings was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Utah State for two seasons.
Owings earned his bachelor's degree from Mercer in 2016. During his time in Macon, Ga., Owings was an undergraduate student intern. He also interned with Barwis Methods in 2014 and with the University of Michigan Olympic Sports in 2015.
He holds the following certifications: CSCS-NSCA, NSAW – Level 1, Metabolic Analytics Practitioner, Body Type Nutrition - Foundations Academy, CPR & AED – ARC.
