O'Leary on Open Mike radio in morning on FM 96.9 The Game: Post questions!

Could he expand on his comment that "Holman was healthy, he just had a bad game?"

Specifically, does he think we're all idiots?

Really isn't many good questions that is appropriate. 1) will you step down? 2) releasing his contract? 3) is recruiting taking a huge hit? 4) any projections on football revenue dropping for next season. 5) is there any stadium improvement plans? Like getting a real facade and losing all the chain link fencing?

Is the strategy of not having the right tackle block anyone a part of the West Coast Offense or is that more of a Spread philosophy?

Nevermind, I'll ask my own questions.

You ask softballs anyway. Since year 2 you quit being a reporter. Lapdog not bulldog.

Grow a pair. Or will georgy not come on the show if you don't play nice.

His offense sucked with Key, Salem and even Taafe initially. GeriatricOL is the common denominator. He wants perfection out of kids....3 yds on 1st and 2nd down runs and then a passing pick-up on 3rd and 4.That's not reality consistently. Even UW with their RBs and OL can't do it consistently. That's why teams pass more. If you aren't in obvious passing situations and/or you are more comfortable passing you can pick up 3rd and 10+, if needed. Heck, Bo has done it. Bortles was pulled initially for checking out of runs too much.

GOL forces his scheme even when he doesn't have the players to execute it.

"That's why teams pass more."

UCF for the year so far has 271 passing attempts and 189 rushing attempts. Try again....

Actual question you can ask him.
In the spirit of it being Back To the Future day, if he could go back to preseason camp and give the players/coaches one piece of advice for this season, what would it be?

Do you watch the games? We pass like crazy in garbage time....and like 7 of 9 plays on our TD drive at SC....then we came out in 2nd half with Patti in wildeffup on 1st and 2nd for no yards then brought Bo in for pressure 3rd down. Tipped pass for INT...game over.

What about the Furman game where Patti ran 8 of 10 plays...Bo got to throw a few....then brought in Harris to throw and lose on the 2nd half.

Try again.

Yes I watch the games. It is kind of hard to say that UCF doesn't pass more than run when I show you the statistics. Our running game has been unsuccessful and I imagine that is why the wildPatti has been used a lot. I actually prefer a solid running game so am disappointed. I was just pointed out your misconception that UCF is not trying to pass. Should I point to the statistics of completions to attempts to show you that the passing game ain't working either?

Were the Bernstein Bears Jewish? Are all bears that live in trees Jewish? Is it harder or easier to maintain a kosher diet in the woods?

Why can't I make a reservation at the UCF library?

They're fully booked!

No you don't get it. When the game starts and/or we are close it is run heavy and we get into obvious passing plays.

Compilation stats with garbage time are garbage. You don't get it and never will.

Mike...ask him
1.) What his plans are for Brent Key?
2.) How is the recruiting efforts coming along?
3.) If we lack speedy players, how can he improve this regarding his current talent?
4.) The DL and OL lines are terrible...what will he do to improve the play in the trenches? Do we lack skill, strenght, training?
5.) Will this season hurt our efforts in upgrading to a P5 conference?
6.) What is O'Leary's plan to improve attendance? (besides the obvious)
7.) How do we go from a top ranked 15 team the very bottom in just two years? What is his explanation? He can't blame our players...he has to take into consideration our coaching. What changes will he make?

There are teams that will rarely throw regardless of how behind theyve fallen....but your argument is valid.. we run first....first.

Mike Bianchi, I want to apologize for some of our fans acting like complete a-holes. I haven't always liked what you've written about UCF, to be honest, but there's no need for anyone to be rude to you.

Ask O'Leary what players have stood out in practice this week.

Listening to 740am now.

"Compilation stats with garbage time are garbage."

Want me to break down the run/pass attempts in the first quarter vs "garbage time" for you?

only garbage time for the Temple game was late in the 4th quarter:
31 pass attempts, 29 run attempts in that game.

Thanks. 96.9fm doesn't reach Brevard County. 740am does. Yes, I realize I can listen online, but I was out doing errands.

Nothing ground shaking in O'leary's interview. Notable quote since no bowl game is that UCF is now "playing for the love of the game."

According to OS, GOL said he's not releasing his contact and wouldn't comment whether there was language in Brent Key's contract stating he was going to be the next head coach. Don't think that helps anyone look any better.

I wouldn't release my contract either if I didn't have too and I he's not gonna ask Key to do it if he's not. In the end it doesn't matter what it is, it's binding.

I don't disagree with his statement. Just saying that this is only going to fuel more angst over GOL. I do think there's something to be said about UCF being the only public school in the state to not make coaches' contracts public. The fact UCF made a statement saying they'll add clauses in the future to prevent this situation is an interesting one. The school knows how this all looks. GOL's actions -- while it is certainly his right -- don't help perception.

The way I see it, GOL didn't earn many friends in the administration with his stint as AD. Last year if this came up and GOL didn't want it released, UCFs stance would be, "We don't release the details of individual contracts to the public". Now it's, "We'd be fine showing it to you, but it's GOL call", ie he's thrown under the bus at the first opportunity.

Ask him what the hell he has on Hitt that keeps him so secure in a job he performs so bad at.

And ask him if he ever smoked weed.

by just not commenting if there is language on Brent Key's contract to be the next head coach leads me to think it definitely is true. He could easily say no without getting into specifics.

Hope this doesn't lead to more recruiting violations since coaches in waiting are restricted from contact with recruits similar to head coaches.
