The “UCF in the spotlight” thread that referenced UCF being a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion university prompted this post.

Diversity, as we’re seeing it in society, separates.

Unity brings people together.

They are opposites.

“On Christ, the solid rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand… (Mote, 1834)

I stand with Christ and am pleased, honored, to do so because it is about uniting, not dividing. It’s about building one another up, not tearing them down. I like that.

Christ, God’s only Son, the Lord and Savior for all who choose to accept and worship him, is about loving each other to the exclusion of hating as is prevalent in today’s society.

“16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17

Love unites.

Hate divides.

They are opposites.

Love, true love, can only be found in God, and hating people isn’t part of that perfect love. Hating sins is part of God, but hating people isn’t.

We are commanded to love God and love people - all people. That doesn’t mean agreeing with all things they do, but does mean respecting the person and hating the sin.

For the record, I’m a sinner and trying to live God’s Word a little better each day so that I sin less without a hope of becoming sinless in this life. Just staying in step with God’s “cadence” a little better each day, each step of the day.

Living God’s Commandments isn’t all that hard and is certainly worth our best effort. There’s simply noting wrong in loving God, not worshipping things other than God, not using God’s name is disrespectful ways, going to church on Sundays, being honorable to your mother and father, not murdering others, not committing adultery, not stealing, not lying about this, that, or the other, and not desiring things that are immoral.

Our marching orders are stated perfectly in Matthew 28:19-20; “19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Let’s work together, and not work against one another by pitting one another against others.

Love. Love. Love.

God bless you today and every today. I earnestly mean that.

P.S. This may be my last Dungeon post because my Rivals subscription expires today. While I appreciate the great UCF sports reporting by Brandon and excellent sports contributions by several others, the petty bickering has increased significantly over the last few years and greatly diluted the value of the board.
