Good Morning Dungeon,
Watch this episode of George to the Rescue if you get a chance. For the past ten years, I have been the Chief Lifeguard for the Ocean Grove Beach Patrol. I grew up in a small town in New Jersey and started guarding at 15 years old. In July of 2019, myself and our crew, experienced one of our darkest days. A 16 year old rookie, Sam, broke his neck while on duty. He just completed his lifeguard academy training and it was his first week of full time work. We respond to possible spinal injuries a number of times a summer and we train on how to pull victims from the surf safely and give them the best chance of survival before transporting them to the hospital. It was a shock when we arrived on scene to see one of our own being pulled from the water. This team from George to the Rescue renovated Sam's house and allowed him to move back in with his family after 15 months.
