So almost every football game I see players go down with cramps (yes I know some are fake). They usually stretch them out and then give them fluids either orally or via an IV. I get leg cramps once in a while and they are usually in my calve and they normally go away after a few mins and after I stretch. Last night I had the worst leg cramp and it was in my Thigh and did not go away very quickly. It was more painful than any I have ever had in the past, I could not even stand up or move my leg for a while. The day before I had done a pretty strenuous bike ride so I am assuming that had something to do with it.

For you athletes out there. What is the cause of these cramps and what is the best way to prevent them? Also if you do get one what is the best way to treat it?
