Pathetic. Trump releases video statement

What an amazing show of leadership:

Trump: "We all got SCREWED by a fraudulent election rigged by those evil Democrats. I know how angry you feel. It was an absolute travesty of justice.
...but go home now."

I said plenty of times that it is criminal. I'm more amused that those defending (cough...cough) criminal activity for years would be suddenly upset. This is the democratic blueprint when they don't get their way. Unfortunately it is creeping over to the right now. You can bet if Trump won we would have some rioting which gets ignored as peaceful protesting.
I wonder if the people that looted a Walmart so they could steal a TV are watching it now thinking "these people are trying to destroy our democracy".

Oooooh, so today was just a natural progression from those lefties??? I'm sorry but I don't recall rioting when Hillary lost the election in 2016 -- hell, I don't recall rioting when Al Gore lost in 2000 when the Supreme Court stepped in and stopped the recount in Florida. Where has all this politically-motivated "rioting" taken place?

Now there HAS been rioting in poor minority communities after one of their own has been shot to death by a police officer in situations where the threat from the victim was suspect at best.

Is that rioting an appropriate way of making a point in those cases?
OF COURSE NOT. Do people you'd consider "lefties" believe rioting is an appropriate way? OF COURSE NOT. But the motivating force behind such lawlessness is not 'left-wing politics,' it's RAW ANGER. It's nothing but a frustrated response from the powerless who feel they have no way of productively expressing their anger. Face it, the only reason those riots are considered 'leftist' by posters like KNIGHTTIME and others on the Right is because the rioters are usually Black or Brown.

It's way past time to put up with violence of any kind. Instead we need to work together as Americans to address the problems that plague this country.

Also a key difference to yesterday and the BLM protests is the police were actively escalating during many of the worst protests this summer. If the police yesterday had responded with similar force then who knows what would have happened? Generally aggression begets aggression so it probably would have been quite ugly.

Let me get this straight: It's okay for police to 'actively escalate' their response to BLM protesters last summer but it was prudent for the police to back off and allow the Trump insurrectionists to overwhelm the Capital and put our Congress in danger??? Allowing these thugs to go about their insurrectionist business was okay because 'aggression begets aggression'? WTF?
...so it probably would have been quite ugly.
Are you f*king kidding me??!? Yesterday WASN'T ugly?

I was mostly agreeing with you? It was AWFUL. I hated it. I guess I should have been more clear. The cops all summer have been actively causing conflict with protestors and the differences in approaches has been striking. Yesterday they basically backed off for whatever reason (white people) and let these idiots run amuck but considering that I'm sure most of these yahoos were armed the loss of life would have been much worse if they'd approached it like every other protest this year which is what I meant by more ugly. People died yesterday and it was a very dark day regardless.

I hear you. The difference in the police response yesterday was stark. In the pictures you showed, every person being accosted by the police were people of color.

Yesterday all of the idiots who attacked the Capital were not only allowed to "run amuck" without being stopped -- they were also allowed to leave -- after a fun afternoon of insurrection.

Do we know where 85 is at? Or Sirgal?
They are both very active, and still very dumb, in The Dungeon political threads. Though, 85 actually took a step back yesterday and asked for Trump's removal from office. But then he blamed everything on poor policing in DC. SirG is still a huge racist, making a backhanded racist remark about black NBA players not caring enough about the dead white girl Trumper that stormed the capitol yesterday.

Interesting that you don't mention all of the places where police backed off and let leftist rioters have their way over the summer. Places such as Minneapolis, Seattle, and Portland. I guess that didn't fit your attempt to create a racism narrative.

Aren't you Mister Law Enforcement?

We all recall you comments about Minneapolis, Seattle, and Portland. But strangely, where's you distain for what happened yesterday at our nation's capital? I guess that didn't fit your narrative. Hmm, I wonder why?

I've been very careful not to push a "racism narrative" and have largely kept my mouth shut but what's your honest take on what would happen if an agitated majority black mob descended on the Capitol with advanced notice and a clear agenda to disrupt? Do you feel we would have seen the same response leading up to and during the day?

Anyone with half a brain knows the answer to that one. It would have been dealt with MUCH differently.

Back during the Floyd riots when we saw scenes of police in riot gear ready to take on street protestors -- many of them Black -- I contrasted them with scenes of good ol' boy "anti-mask" protesters inside the Michigan statehouse with shotguns and the authorities didn't blink an eye.

sk8, answer the call of the question that you’ve very conveniently ignored. It’s a good one.

You do realize another difference in the riots right? First off, what happened at the capitol was awful, embarrassing, and whatever else you want to call it. Shouldn't have happened, shouldn't have been allowed to happen. But to sk8s point, the cops in riot gear over the summer were being pelted with rocks, bricks, and molotov cocktails - you remember seeing all of the burning buildings/police cars/police stations/and a church don't you? There's a video out there where police were protecting a statue and getting pelted with rocks - that's why they were in riot gear and shooting tear gas and rubber bullets. Again - what happened at the capital was wrong and should not have been allowed to happen but lets not act like over the summer it was a bunch of people standing on the sidewalk singing church hymns.

WTF? I guess the better question is do YOU realize what happened at the Capitol?

We didn't see any video (thank God) but a police officer had his head bashed in with a fire extinguisher and there were explosive devises and molotov cocktails found inside the Capitol too. So why wasn't the Capitol defended by a strong force in riot gear?

Despite volumes of evidence that the protest could turn violent, it was the Capitol police who -- for some strange reason -- thought this protest near the Capitol was no big deal. Gee, I wonder why?

This is a rational position to take. Both are equally bad.

Wendys in Atlanta vs one of the most important buildings on the planet that was in the middle of certifying a Democratic Election smh....

I would think that since the capitol police basically let people in, it's going to be hard to prosecute a lot of these people fully.

That's like saying, the guard didn't stop me when I walked into a restricted area and grabbed a painting from the museum so I'm innocent.

What should happen to these officers?
At the very least, FIRED.

That video was mind-boggling. The story behind the Capitol's 'security' that day is eventually going to come out and it looks like it will be a wild one.

Looks like the protesters were given a tour of a fancy hotel. So much for breaking in the Capitol building. Many will walk
