Pittsburgh Steelers OL Villanueva is #1 Jersey Seller

BACK ON TOPIC

Villanueva sincerely apologized yesterday for the mix-up, stating it was a botched plan. Team was supposed to all stay inside the tunnel to avoid the controversy of being out there during the anthem. He spoke to a few leaders on the team about him going out just a little ahead to be able to see the flag and stand during the anthem like he normally would. Nobody had a problem with that, but he went too far ahead, and got separated from his team so it looked like he was out there on his own. He hates the attention everyone in this thread is paying him, calling him a true hero and all that crap. Said he has no problem with people protesting during the anthem in the way they choose, because he understands there are injustices. Defended everyone on his team as being patriotic.

So, no, the team aren't a bunch of anti-American shitheads.

Dammit. I guess I'll need to burn my jersey of his I just bought. Sad!

Your point? You seem to be ignoring the left declaring Jihad on this guy.

It could be that he's really "sorry". It also could be that his coach publicly crapped on him afterwards and the media piled on.

It's a truly sad circumstance that we have a former Ranger having to apologize for standing for the frigigng anthem. Whatever.

No one is declaring Jihad on this guy, how many times are you going to make this up? Please post one instance where someone here said anything demeaning towards him. Just because you want this to be true does not make it true. You truly are a shit tier poster.

BUT I WANNA RAGE CUM SO HARD BECAUSE IT NEEDS TO BE TRUE!

Does your idiotic commentary make you feel more right about this?

I was referring to the "I was looking for 100% participation" comment which Snopes didn't refute. At all. You can look at that and say he was just making a general comment, but it came off much more as him making a point to note that Vill wasn't in the tunnel with the rest of the team.

Whatever. Que more awesome and super funny comments.

Here's a good way to avoid all of this moronic confusion in the future- stop concocting asinine plans to be in the locker room, or the tunnel, or whatever, and just stand on the frigging sideline for the 1:30 anthem. I know I'm asking too much and this won't happen, but it would at least spare these teams from having to issue "What Happened" memoirs. Maybe they can get Hillary to write their next one!

Wow, you really are a snowflake if that's what rises to "publicly crapped on him" or as Wayne says "forced him to apologize." I thought you were supposed to be like, hard-nosed, unemotional, logical badass men. What is it with all this crying lately? Did you recently watch The Notebook?

Another HILLARY!!! zinger! I knew you'd come through! Well done!

I haven't complained about anybody standing or sitting or whatever for the anthem . Idgaf. But let's not pretend this guy wasn't shamed into apologizing . Tomlin threw him under the bus publicly and that was uncalled for imo . Rapelisberger said he'll be out standing for the anthem next game . I have a problem with telling guys they can't stand respectfully for the anthem , especially when so many here are crying about respecting those that choose to kneel and their right to do so . It's hypocrisy all around .

Oddly enough, the MLS had a great position on this. Paraphrasing, "We'd like you to stand but we respect your decision to peacefully protest." It's really that simple. You don't have to like or agree with the protest, but the act itself if perfectly acceptable.

He takes ownership of the situation, apologizes because he's a grown-ass man, a Vet (a Ranger even!), and you don't believe him? He must have been forced to do it? He is lying about the whole thing? That's insulting to him as a person and a Army vet.

How do you feel about Rapelisburgers apology for not going out?

It's almost as if someone who took an oath to defend the Constitution knows what the Constitution stands for. Spoiler alert: it's not a piece of red white and blue cloth made in China.
