Playing Memphis in AAC QFs

Hendricks is a freshman. I’m surprised he didn’t hit the wall earlier in the long season where he was required to often carry this team. Great player just today wasn’t his day. Had a great season though.

They played very well today. Considering they didn’t get much out of Hendricks in scoring and Davis played out of his mind, they competed greatly and would’ve won if not for the above mentioned.

Good effort all around, included coaching. as they made adjustments.

We win that game if Hendricks makes just a couple more shots and Davis/Williams don’t have the greatest games of their careers. Great game nonetheless and Hendricks will be fine, just an off night and that happens sometimes.

Credit to Memphis’ two stars. I would love to play them next cause odds are they won’t repeat that and have got to be exhausted. Especially Davis with his ankle issue.

As a TEAM, Memphis wanted it more. I’ll leave at that, being a season ticket owner for 10+ years…

Memphis had a 2 man team but those 2 played out of their minds. Our boys played great. Durr had a nice game as did Kelly. The kids competed difference was 2 Memphis guys played in a different stratosphere. With our limitation very proud of their effort and competitiveness.

Is 15 ppg carrying a team? Even in NBA that’s a role player. To me, carrying a team is 25ppg. Probably even more. In NBA he’d be lucky to score 8 ppg and not be sent to G League. He needs to return.

This guy fits in really well.

Return? To UCF? You think he wants to lose 20 games next year?

Hendricks is not ready for the nba. I’m thinking he will want to play a season with his brother (who redshirted) and learn how to take over a game. Kendric Davis was in beast mode last night.

Yes return to UCF. He needs to be a top 5 pick or he’s going G League. He’s not a top 5 pick right now. I wouldn’t draft him first round at all. He needs to get better.

The guy is the best to come to UCF ever. He could use more seasoning but it’s hard to give up a Top 20 slot in the NBA draft I hope he stays n I think it’s in his best interest but that’s a lot of money left on the table. Hopefully for UCF he bets on himself n knows more seasoning could get him into the top 10. He has Top 10 talent

Great talent, great kid He gave UCF something it’s never had and I, for one, am greatly appreciative whatever decision he makes. I hope he comes back, selfishly, n I think it would be good for him but it’s the young man’s right either way. He not only played great offensively throughout the year but defensively as well.

Hendricks is projected to be a first rounder. As far as I see, every first rounder makes at least a million or two guaranteed.

Now if he transfers to another program, that should shut the book on Dawkins, though for most it already has been.

This^^^ Head-to-head, Davis and Williams vs Hendricks and Johnson was like watching men playing against boys. The rest of our team (especially Kelly) outplayed their guys. But their stars won the game. As far as first round draft choices, after watching last night's game, it would start with Davis and Williams....

Houston’s Freshman is projected top 5 and he rarely shits bed in losses.

Memphis had a guy last year who averaged about 6–7 points a game got drafted in the second round was projected as late first/ early 2 round, Larry Brown said he had lottery type talent. He end up signing and making the Minnesota Timberwolves and he makes over 2.5 a year. Hard to pass up that money. He was a freshman and entered the draft after his first year. Ironically, he was from the same high school basketball conference as Hendricks in south Florida. Tough to pass up that money, which is life-changing for a lot of these kids.

But he is ready for millions of guaranteed money for being a first round draft pick. 1st-rounders are guaranteed their salaries for the first two seasons, and last two years are team options. “Last place” in the 1st round of 2022 got over 11 million. Mid round was around 18 million. He’s got to go. He can be set for life (over 5 million (gross) of seed money) no matter what happens with his future prospects.

The latest mock draft (from 3 days ago) on NBA.com (via bleacher report) has him going #11.

Unless a firing breaks this weekend Terry’s strategy seems to be pay more but lower expectations or don’t have any . he is a bad AD, he doesn’t fit our University

Terry took over many of the contracts including JDs. He still has multiple years left. This is not the new ADs fault. He has his hat with Gus but even that was a hire that needed to be made immediately because of timing.

They r going into a bigtime league and my suggestion is u let JD take the first year as we investigate the lay of the land in both where we r at n our competitive state n where we need to go, instead of firing JD and paying millions to him and pay millions to a great unknown. Everyone agrees JD is a classy professional who had this thing going before the injuries. Why not let him take us into the Big 12 the first year. A new coach is not going to succeed in this conference which is the top conference and the second best is a long ways away. Let JD take the first year n see where it goes. Some believe a change is going to bring us success just because it’s change. This makes no sense economically and competitive wise.

He's going and he played yesterday like he knows he's going. But it is too bad (and disappointing) that he didn't take yesterday as a personal challenge vs. Williams.

His tweet said he was going to lead us on a long run. He was just outmatched. Which will happen in NBA every night.

You would think being a projected first round, but not winning any major accolades for the conference would drive him to make a statement.

Though Dawkins is very obviously not the most passionate leader and I think that gets instilled in the team as well. Feels like if a player gets emotional and worked up, Dawkins would be there telling them to calm down and just relax, it's just a game.

This whole constant complaint about JD not getting upset and throwing chairs is nonsense. I'm not a big JD fan but you don't need to yell and scream to be a good coach.

This complaint against JD is getting tiresome.

He’s not a good coach by results. Lack of emotion could be a reason. Most of the great coaches get passionate on sideline.

There is huge gap between Dawkins demeanor and Bobby Knight. He doesn't have to be screaming, but excitement and energy during pivotal moments is infectious.

Coach K was passionate. That’s the kind of coach you want.

The men’s basketball team looks a lot better after yesterdays Memphis win over Houston We could’ve, had we had production from certain people n would’ve beaten Memphis in this tournament. The effort from Ucf in the tournament looks a lot lot better after the Memphis win yesterday.

Sasser sat out for Houston.

Not playing great but Memphis letting us hang around. Hendricks needs to take over. That’s a broken record. He defers too much.
Hendricks is acting way too passive this season. In my humble opinion, it's Johnny and the coaching. Just saying. Somebody needs to tell him to GO TO THE HOOP AGGRESSIVELY! Turn into a monster!
