The way I see, I'm projecting as follows...

2016 UCF: 6-6 (4-4 AAC)

vs. SC State (W)
at Michigan (L)
vs Maryland (L)
vs FIU (W)
vs Cincinnati (L)
vs Temple (L)
vs Tulane (W)
vs Tulsa (W)
at UConn (W)
at East Carolina (W)
at Houston (L)
at USF (L)

If UCF can right the ship from epically bad to just terrible I see 3 wins. Being bowl eligible would definitely exceed expectations.

Agreed, though with the right coach it could possibly turn around quickly. I think 4-8 might be more realistic than my optimistic 6-6 prediction.

If it's Dino 3-4 wins. If it's Collins 4-6 wins. There is no way the team we have now would be able to run an option offense. Their slow. We'd be slightly better with Collins because Dino has to recruit his players and I can see Bo and Tyler transferring to a school that more suits their skill sets. That would mean Holman or Dinovo running the team.

Guess Patti could run an option offense, but it wouldn't be pretty. O-line is definitely too slow for that mess. We'd definitely do better in theory to hire someone who runs a similar offensive/defensive scheme to O'leary, but maybe a little less stagnant on offense. Better run/pass mix, possibly out of the spread formation.

I say three to six wins depending on the recruits. If his recruits are the best we've had, then we may have a youth movement and we get better as the year ends. The SC State game shouldnt be a concern win or lose. Remember Taggart lost his first game against an FCS squad too.

Asking a lot from true freshman can be a tough task. We just got to get 25 good players this class and do the best we can. Then the following year would be year we start the improvements.

True, but even under a new coach, losing to an FCS school in back-to-back season will really hurt this program more than it's already hurting. That is a good game to get a little confidence rolling before getting slammed at Michigan.

if Dino is the guy he needs to immediately make a hard push to recruit QB Xavier Gaines out of Lake Wales. He would be a perfect fit for his offense and could start as a Freshman. FSU might cool on him with Malik Henry enrolling in January for them

I don't know how we get to 25 unless we are just taking scrubs.

Dino has 5 capable QBs already on the roster that could run his offense. Keeping the WRs, adding speed and solidifying the lines should be priority. There is a lot of talent on this team.

He should still try to bring in 1 QB. but I do agree a lot of problems can be fixed with a respectable Oline/Dline

Funny you say this. I really do see Dinovo getting another shot. Why? Because he is mobile and no one else has showed the ability to be any better at passing AND running.

I don't. You can't win with true freshman starting all over the field. Babers will fix us but we got a rebuilding project for 2 yearsm
They'll be sophomores/juniors next year. Even Babes (my new nickname) can't import experienced talented seniors.

We still lack depth and sophomore players are still young in general. He can recruit 25 and hopefully do something with our existing players. We have a few decent receivers if we can get them the ball.

I was using NC State with Doeren as a reference. In 2014, he had a great recruiting class and sprang that to a winning record but that was also his second year. Having the Gator transfer helped too.
I do agree with you for the most part.

The spread is not built around possession receivers who can't create separation and wildly inaccurate qbs. It can't fix our o-line and who knows what will happen with the defense.
Our talent cupboard isn't bare, but its full of meats and cheeses, and the new HC specializes in making candy.

Does anyone seriously think Babers is going to recruit anything much this year? If the situation is as bad as some say, and the view on UCF is that bad, it's going to take more than a 3 months to change it. Plus, it hardly looks like anything has happened on the recruiting trail since pre-season. Judging by his BGSU class's star rating (yes poor rating but what else is there) he isn't that exciting out there yet. You're putting far too much faith in him if you think he's going to pull anything over 2 stars to an 0-12 team that some/many HS coaches are down on in just a few months. I hope I'm wrong, but he's going to have to re-build what years have withered. Not to mention, he's not even going to think about it till next week, then he'll have to build a staff, then try to locate anyone who's not committed, etc.

You mean Air Raid? You don't need a running QB to run an air raid offense, what we have at QB now are capable of running it

I watched some of the Ball State game and it looks like they run an option run game, but looking at the stats the QB hardly ever keeps it. So yeah, I guess we don't. However, I think his offense would be more effective with a QB that's willing to run. There's so many Texas Tech jr schools out there I can't keep up with the variations.

I have no idea what we can do next year. Get everyone back on the field who can come back and see where we are with a very young team that has a year of playing under their belts.
4 to 6 wins would be in the neighborhood that I would expect. but to be honest I have no idea what we do or do not have.

With Scott Frost at the helm, does any of your projections change? I still think 6 wins is within reach in his first yr as HC. If we are lucky could get going on a Houston type of run, but they were obviously more established when their current HC took the reigns.

Maryland loses many seniors from an already awful team.
Cincy loses entire receiving core, several linemen, and much of their defense.
Temple loses a LOT of starters.
Houston loses much of their O-line and two deeps and a handful on defense.
USF is the only one I see being stronger next season. If the lightbulbs turn on, this team could win 8-10 games next season.

We aim for 0.500. I don't expect it, but 0.500 would be a win for me. But in 2017, we need to be in the title game, and by 2018 at the latest. Once we are, and are doing well the next season, Scott will move on if the Nebraska HC position opens up. It's all about timing.

Nick Saban might win 4 games with UCF's roster next year but Frost could win 10...sounds about right...lol

Last time we went 0-for, we won 8 games and the division the next year. Yes, it was with an easier schedule, but there is too much talent on this team to not be competitive. We had a lot of dropped passes and wrong routes killing offensive drives this year. Defensively, there were a lot of blown tackles (which is correctable) and blown coverages largely when we played a zone (which takes time for underclassmen to grasp). I see 6 games on the schedule we should win and, if things click right away, 10. Need to save this thread for the end of next year.
