Question: Will the basketball players that are in the portal get to play in Las Vegas?

I wouldn’t allow the leaving guys to play. I’d rather roll with 9 guys that all play a lot. Seniors out if eligibility and returnees only.
Agreed, not a chance I would play any of the guys that are intending to transfer.

You’ve got Da. Johnson, Ivy-Curry, Coleman, and B. Williams as seniors out of eligibility that can play.

And you’ve got Hall, Thiam, Di. Johnson, and Taylor as underclassmen. That’s a rotation of eight. If any of these remaining underclassmen enter the portal, then UCF could have some Vegas issues (not to mention next season obviously).

I wonder if the other teams in the Crown are having similar issues. I read 500 players are already in the portal. I sure admire Johnson for staying at UCF the whole time. That seems uncommon today
Multiple teams have lost players, 2 of Utah starters and 2 of Utah bench players that played double digit minutes have gone to the portal. Probably several teams will have starters leaving for portal.

Weird decision to have this played after the portal opening

Utahs coach got fired for losing to us. Them leaving isn’t unexpected. But I read over a thousand players have entered. 22% of guys on scholarship are in the portal.

At this point just take the four or five seniors/non-portal players on each Crown team and make like 8 (or 4) all-star teams to play in Vegas. The NIL money is going to players anyway, if the tournament wants the quality of the players/games to be anything more than complete garbage, maybe think outside of the box?

Obviously I know this would never happen, but seems like a better idea than allowing bad teams showing up with half of their regular rotation players and a few walk-ons sprinkled in to play in primetime on Fox.

Na, lets just keep it old school basketball and let the players who stay play. They deserve it. Let the transfers go promote themselves on TikTok.

There is that 3 on 3 Half Court basketball that was played in this past Olympics that was fun to watch. But that was more street ball than anything else. Basketball is a team sport. There is no I in TEAM. :p (baiting hobolame with that one)...

If we lose any more players Johnny Dawkins is gonna have to lace up and play himself. :p

Saw this on a recent article: For Hall and NBA declaring from recent article: "Note: If Hall withdraws from draft consideration prior to June 15, he can retain college eligibility. The draft will take place June 25-26."

Oregon State faces UCF in Las Vegas without three key players entering transfer portal

But in a surprising move, the Beavers will be without three players including two starters for the game as they've entered the transfer portal.

Strange times to be a fan, player or coach of College team.
They need to rethink portal timing and make it work as best as possible. It shouldn't open before March madness is over for BB.

Imagine it's similar situation to football portal in terms of giving enough time for players to register for their new school.

The Crown tournament starting after the portal opening was a bad decision, they are going to have to make some changes otherwise I see this tournament getting scrapped in the future. It's certainly not a great showcase for programs involved to be mashing up lineups for televised games.
