Gus says they've had a solid week of practice.

He learned a lot in the first game albeit against a "lesser opponent." Only three penalties, which was good. He liked how the team interacted on the sideline, the body language. Didn't face a lot of adversity except a little bit offensively early.

A lot of players played, which is great for evaluation.

Gus talked about the early offensive woes, they had some miscommunication, missed a block, KJ overthrew JR, just didn't play clean football. Played better in second half.

Looking at KJ, it's a new offense for him and he probably put too much pressure on himself. Gus says he "put him in a bind twice." He was tough on himself. He just had his best week of practice since he's been here.

First game has a simplified playbook. When you can run the ball well, you can be simple. You have to take what they give you.

Thought the OL did well, still need to be more physical though.

Deshawn Pace is a playmaker. They knew he was a great defensive player having faced him the past two weeks. "We're glad he's on our side."

Gus says they have way more playmakers this year on defense. Felt they were dominating on the defensive side.

It was good for backup QB Jacurri Brown to get his feet wet, get some PT. "He has a chance to be a really good player."

The helmet communication, the second half was better than the first. It's a learning experience for all involved. He talked more in the second half.

Commercial break.
