Redemption...

Don't think it's ideal hiring a guy that got their payday, and now they are given same responsibility and making less.

Like Malzahn, Frost got his big payday being fired. On top of that he was reported to be checked out in the last head coaching job.

Just don't see him being the same as 2016 wanting to make a name for himself.

GOL's second perfect season was not due to a bare cabinet, it was due to injuries. It was why Frost pulled in a great Strength and Conditioning Coach. His teams were relatively injury free.

I mean, it sounds nice, but if you followed his tenure in Nebraska there were a lot of concerning things. Can't remember how verified the stories were but stuff about a drinking problem bad enough that he basically declined to meet an important recruit because he was wasted. Also he got surly with the media and would throw players under the bus, mock them for wearing hoodies.

Some of the issues could just be the hometown hero pressure, but I agree with the person who said he could've spent time coaching in G5 and hiring him after so much idle time doesn't seem wise.
You would drink more too if you lived in Lincoln

I do have a concern about Scott Frost. His DC(Erik Chinander) was a below average coach. Our defense gave up some big plays during Chinander 's tenure. Chinander, on a scale of 10, gets a 6 from me.

Might wanna go look at Boise St the last 2 years 2023 8-6 and 11-1 so far this year with a chance to get into CFP with Chinander as DC

How did Frost destroy Nebraska? They weren't shit before he got there. That's why they hired him. Nebraska hasn't really been shit since the 90s.
LOL.....

In the 10 years Pre-Frost, they won 9 games five times, and 10 games 3 times.

Under the program destroyer, they won 5 games once, 4 games once, and 3 games twice (and 4 wins during the year he was fired)

At least TRY to be accurate....LOL

I'm not OK on Kinne or Frost.....

If you would insist on HCs with Florida experience, you better call Herman, Golesh, or Mullen.......Yikes

Frost has not redeemed himself at the HC level.....in several ways he is WAY more risky than any person we are discussing.
Yikes! and Yikes!

This is where i step in to say u clearly dont know football.

Chinander wasnt great but his attacking defense was perfect. We scored in bunches so our defense was going to be on the field alot. However, chinander’s defense either gave up a big play or got a turnover. It’s how we beat gus in peach bowl. Gus was able to drive on us multiple times but we had a pick six, several drive ending sacks with quem, and a pick to end the game. It complemented the offense perfectly

That’s the thing though… it requires a quem to get those big plays or else we’re giving up 60 every game

Well I don't remember much of that. So what does that say? So why did they fire their great coaches from that period and hire the native son?

Old pirates, yes, they rob I
Sold I to the merchant ships
Minutes after they took I
From the bottomless pit
But my hand was made strong
By the hand of the Almighty
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly

[Chorus]
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom?
'Cause all I ever have
Redemption songs
Redemption songs

GO SCOTT FROST!!!

His wife loved it here and didn’t want to leave. That could be a big factor.

I get that Chins is doing better at Boise, but wasnt there some way of how he left here that wasn’t good? I can’t remember but I thought he disparaged UCF or some thing on his way out.

The 3 defensive lineman set with 8 guys standing up was his trademark.
It put a lot of stress on the back 8 to be good tacklers and stymie the running game.

While he had more players standing up who could blitz and got more pressure on the QB
our holes against the running game led to some pretty big runs by the opposition.

Remember? The Big 12 will run all over us. We need a more balanced approach on defense
against run and pass game of offense.

The next 2 weeks will be a good indicator if the new HC can hit the ground running in securing commitments, or if this was really a last minute agreement and we are not ready to hit the trail and solidify a roster.

Gus hit ‘on paper’ home runs every winter and we know how that ended

Scott will go looking for speed

Defense will be the biggest challenge . And does Walker take the biggest money offer and leave or does UCF have a chance to keep him?

Whatever the criteria is, the next 2 weeks will be vital.

I expect some portal activity as late as April/May. Mike Hughes was an after spring semester portal pick up
Hard to use the term "Transfer Portal" in 2017.....as it only had 2 players on it the whole year, Mike not being one of them.

Another example how much things have changed in 7 years....

In 2024, the next 2 weeks will be vital
