This blatantly unconstitutional Florida law will be shot down in the courts so DeSantis can get a two-fer by railing against "lib judges" and "Big Tech" at the same time. But I find the Republican spin on this issue fascinating.

The people who love to portray themselves as staunchly anti-communist are doing one hell of a job of behaving like commies themselves with idiotic legislation like this beauty.

Wow...not banning political figures from a platform that is used by the world. Terrible

The opposite of commie. Banning because they don't fit your narrative is being a commie.
Let me get this straight: So the government should be the one who decides who and what information is shared with the masses instead of the free market?

That's the OPPOSITE of Commie???!? 🤪

Come on man, not matter what side of the political spectrum you are on this is clearly big government infringement on the rights of a private business.

This isn't a normal private business. They completely control the flow of information to the world. My equivalent would be if At&t and Verizon didn't want to offer cell phone support or communications with the left.
Whether you define the business as "normal" or not, it is still big government infringement on business. Newspapers and television distribute content as well, should the government set requirements on what content they need to provide as well?

Also, I as private companies I completely support AT&T and Verizon's ability to decline cell phone service to the left, right, or whomever they decide to.

Gotcha, you are against communism and are willing to use the term repeatedly against the political party that you are against. But in terms of the government actually utilizing communist-like methods such as the infringement of rights of private businesses, you support it and rationalize it since it favors your choice of political party. I suppose I should have guessed that....

Do you feel that way about private water and electric companies?

You just made an argument about these companies providing content, which is something they’ve consistently argued that they don’t do. They’ve long argued that they merely provide an open platform for people to exchange information and ideas, and should be protected from any liability as a result.

NOW they want to be able to suppress information the way a true publisher or content provider would do, making decisions about what should and shouldn’t be said. All while being legally protected from liability as their platforms are used to promote illegal activity and distribute illegal material, including child porn.

They can’t have it both ways. Either they’re responsible for what happens on their platform or they aren’t.

Lmao DeSantis is now threatening cruise lines for how they run their business.

He really is trying to be a communist, and knuckle dragging inbred MAGAts eat it up.

Not only that but more importantly this doesn't help to bring tech jobs to Florida.

None of their business if you're vaccinated or not. The only reason is making the cdc happy with their requirement of 100% employee and 95% guest requirement which is bs
Wow. KNIGHTTIME is going FULL COMMIE!!!!

Now private cruise lines should be forced to service his unvaccinated Chud Comrades. :)

They have no business with your health records to get on a boat.
Fine and dandy. And you have no business getting on their cruise ship if you are unwilling to comply with their requirements.

Let's see if Florida's Commie law will hold up. :)

What other vaccinations should be required to get on a cruise ship?

A business should be able to determine its own 'rules for the road,' right?

I guess the old "No shoes, no shirt, no service" line needs to be amended to include, "...unless you're an aggrieved Republican." :)

Like cake bakers? Or is that different?

Once upon a time, you were all about the rights of private businesses to refuse service. Swallowing your homophobia and serving a gay couple was as Commie as it could get! Remember?

But since your boy got banned from Twitter, you guys suddenly want the government to step in and protect YOUR rights against 'blatant discrimination' by Big Tech.

Funny how this game is played. :)

Imagine being so idiotic you don't know that today's GOP is nothing but a massive lot of hypocritical treasonous morons.

When did I say I approved of any of this?

ITT: shuckster has advocated for the rights of businesses to refuse service to anyone because it's "communist" to not allow it.

You were the people who railed as 'Communist' efforts by the government to order private businesses to follow their rules.....until it was social media companies and Trump.

They are all communist efforts. You just approve of some of them, which actually makes you a fascist.

I clearly remember posting when Trump first tried to force price limits on drug companies that “finally Trump does something fascist” and everyone on the left that was calling him Hitler for years agreed with his plan. Crazyhole agreed with me at that time as well. Since you’re always so concerned about accuracy and everything.

It's only "fascist" if you disagree with it. Just like how socialism is a moving target and all of the things they like is socialism, and the things they don't is fascism.

Since you're all about accuracy and everything, did I agree with Trump's plan since I'm part of "everyone on the left"?

The law is businesses can't ask for your personal vaccine records in Florida. So you want the cruise ships to break Florida law? Trying to get your argument. It isn't like they really want to deal with checking vaccine records anyway.

I identify as vaccinated anyway. ;)

No they don't want to deal with it. They'd prefer a society with vaccination rates high enough that it isn't an issue. But cruise ships are petri dishes for viral outbreaks. Plus, they stop at various ports of call and have to the respect the regulations and laws of multiple jurisdictions. What if the ports themselves mandate a vaccination policy that would violate Florida state law for the cruise line to enforce? DeSantis will cave on this and grant them an exemption.

The law should have been aimed at local governments, preventing them from issuing orders forcing businesses to verify vaccination status. That - in principle - is protecting the rights of business owners from local over-reach. That's a position I could rationally defend AS LONG as you're still giving the business autonomy over the decision. Instead, we get something equally as over-reaching but in the other direction.

THIS! ^^^^^^^

It's hilarious to hear our Usual Suspects whine about 'commie' government over-reach and then turnaround and applaud DeSantis for doing the exact same thing they were so appalled about.

It would be great if you consistently held the position that government shouldnt tell businesses who they conduct commerce with.

Let's not have the CDC requirement on cruiselines and see if they want to deal with the vaccination passports as a business. Compromise?

It is interesting that it's against the law for any Florida business to ask for your vaccination records.
A business should be able to do whatever they want. If a cruise line requires papers, another will see the opportunity to allow people without papers. The market will correct itself if we allow it to.

Nobody will want to be responsible for verifying vaccinations.
This misses the point. The cruise line doesn't need a 100% fool proof verification system. Simply saying "vaccines required" and "please sign here and confirm you got your vaccine" is going to significantly increase the % of cruisers vaccinated. Providing a copy of your vaccine record or documenting an exemption is about as complicated as it would get. If someone forges documents or lies then so be it.

No one is forced to share any personal information with the cruise industry anymore than 7-11 forces people to wear shoes.

Same as usual. Say something without actually saying anything.
You just don't want to hear what I'm saying. :)

All you "anti-commies" were wringing your hands in dismay at the loss of 'freedom' when various state governments....gasp!....mandated the wearing of face masks in public during a pandemic!!! OH THE HORROR!!!

Funny how Florida's government edict was fine and dandy with your crowd. What happened?

I'd love to hear what you are saying. But you shuck and jive so much it's barely worth thinking about anymore. Sorry man, I like you but it's just grown old.

Sorry this 'shuck and jive' thread on Trumpet hypocrisy is not up your alley. Not everybody can dream up cool topics like a "what if?" on Obama being a dictator. ;)
