Now you people (Ninja) can stop complaining. Or start complaining again--I can't keep up..

Donald Trump is considering Ron DeSantis for secretary of defense, the WSJ reported. The Florida governor would replace first pick Pete Hegseth, a Fox News host facing allegations of rape and financial misconduct.

this is a trap by Don who wants his daughter in law to be the Florida Senator and is unsure if Ron will go that far

And I dislike DeSantis but it wouldn’t be smart for his political future. a little separation from the current administration is good for him.

Not really. JD Vance will 100% be the nominee in 2026; DeSantis knows this. It would be better to get into the Cabinet as SecDef, set himself up for SecState or something else in 2026, and then be in prime position to run for President again if Vance loses.

As of now JD would probably be the front runner, but it also depends on how the next 4 years go. I'm not sure about Desantis future as a presidential candidate though, he wasn't very impressive this last go round and by 2028 or 32 who knows if people will care about him at all. I do think poolside might be right, in that this could be to get him out of the way so Lara can be a senator, but we will see.

No one was impressive trying to campaign against Trump. It’s a moot point.

If DeSantis can turn a 50/50 state in a +18% R in just 6 years then he can absolutely win the Presidency if he were able to campaign without Trump on the race.

I'm not saying he wasn't impressive because of the results (though he didn't even really compete with Haley much less Trump, so results werent great either), I am saying he wasn't impressive because he comes across as weird and awkward.

you were circlejerking bogus poll data right before President Trump won in a landslide.

nobody can be expected to take your posturing seriously.

Was he a Selzer poll fan?
I picked Trump to win Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona & lose the other swing states. Boston was the only poster here that I remember that went on the record the final week saying landslide. Every other poster said a close race in either direction, even Joe picked Harris in a close race

I picked Trump in a close one, but was pretty positive the last week, you could feel the break out at it happened.
