They aren't trying to make societal and cultural changes. They are lying and amplfying lies to voters in order to convince people to elect a dude who will protect them from sanctions and weaken our impact in global partnerships that are a check on their aggressions.
Everyone here has seen Russian misinformation and you may be able to identify it but many cannot and elections are swung by less than a percent in many cases.
If Trump's message and plan was so good he wouldn't need Russia. He would have overwhelming support of the American people based on his successes and not a misinformation campaign.

There is a documentary about Cambridge Analytica on Netflix that shows how they specifically targeted people in swing states through social media that they thought were easily persuadable. So not only can everyone not identify it, the one's who didn't appear able to were the one's who were specifically targeted.

Any other methods by another country influencing our elections has been around for decades.
For instance. If someone from Russia contacts me on Facebook or sends me an e-mail, saying that they want me to vote for Bernie Sanders for X reasons, that’s not tampering IMO
NO PAST OR PRESENT POTUS WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN PRESIDENT BECAUSE OF ANOTHER COUNTRY’S INFLUENCE.
