San Fran rule to put health warnings on sodas

I see nothing wrong with this. Far too many Fatty McFatties running around this country and they need to know that shit they put into their bodies could kill them.

Watch the 60 Minutes episode that deals with the problems with sugar and the brain and get back to us.

I see something wrong with this: we apparently have legions of idiots who don't recognize that slamming down 60 grams of sugar in one sitting is horrid.

Or worse, don't ever think to check the nutrition label.

Does anyone who drinks regular soda REALLY not know that it's a health shit bomb? I think they know, they just don't care enough to not put shit in their body that is terrible for them. Just like smokers fully understand what those cancer sticks are doing to them, but smoke anyways.

Problem is these legions of idiots don't recognize it and don't read the nutrition label.

I think you'd be amazed at the number of people who do not recognize poor health choices they make via food.

"I'm just going to have a salad. Yay me!"

....pours on half a gallon of calorie bomb dressing.......

I think we need the government to step in and tell us exactly what we should and shouldnt eat. On top of that, they should tell us the correct portion size. In fact, there should just be giant government food kitchens that we go with a ration cards and get our daily meals.*

They already do to a certain extent:

The private sector should be the only one who can do that? They have our best interests at heart!*

So there's a British tv show called Secret Eaters where they monitor what people who claim to be eating a normal amount of calories but are complaining about still gaining weight eat over a week vs what they log in as far as their food and it always shocks grown ass adults that their "salad" has more calories than a meal at McDeath and that their liquid calories count and that snacking throughout the day can add up to another days' worth of calories.
So yeah, a lot of people are super ill informed about calorie tracking. I think warnings aren't the government telling us what to do (calm down tin foil hat people), but they could be useful for people who maybe grew up with horrible habits from their parents who have just never thought to look into what crap they are putting in their bodies.
Shoot, just working at starbucks showed me the flawed fatlogic that a lot of people have. One lady said she's on a diet so she takes creamer in her latte (as in, not a splash of creamer, but 16oz. of the stuff) instead of nonfat milk because "there are no nutrients in nonfat milk" so she's just "drinking empty calories". Shocker she gained weight and couldn't figure out why.

You're giving people far too much credit if you don't think there is a large part of the population that is dangerously misinformed or uninformed altogether about basic nutrition.

Personal responsibility and due diligence.
I agree. No more advertisements, the products should stand on their own merits and the people should research and decide for themselves. Oh wait, I mean we should shut our fking mouths and let people spend tens of billions of dollars to influence the actions of the world so they can make even more money.

Life is Moneyball. You're the old scout who doesn't understand the concept.

LOL. You need to live in a communist country. Free market is obviously not for you nor where you make your money.

You're clearly confused. This isn't a free market. In any event, it's a FREAKING WARNING. Stay away from San Fran if it bothers you. Too many fags there anyways right?

People lie to themselves every day to do the things they want to do. They know when they are doing unhealthy things, the desire to eat outweighs the desire to be thin. You resist the urge for 3 hours then give in for 5 minutes and totally wipe out the 3 hours. You don't need the govt telling you the 2 doughnuts you just ate are full of sugar, white flour, and have 660 calories each. You know it, and you give in anyways, no different then the drinker who is drinking 6 beers and a couple of hard drinks every day. Both know there is a problem and find a way to deny it in their own minds.

The state of California should take this a step further, and eventually, the feds: put pictures of what these Fatty McFatties' exploding hearts, arteries, and stomachs look like on the package as a result of eating like a pig. They do this in Europe with pics of black lungs on packs of cigs--why not here with food?

There needs to be a war on obesity in this country just like there was on cigs. The next time you see a fatty sitting next to you, ask them to move just as if they were smoking a cig.

So would we get a non soda section, or non fatty section at the Applebee's?

Make them sit outside, and then eventually like smoking sections in restaurants, fade them out completely. I shouldn't have to sit there and look at pigs in moo moos stuff food into their face.

I'm not confused. It's simply more useless regulation to comply with because the government feels we are stupid. When I went there, the gays didn't bother me at all, it was more congestion. I won't go back again.

We are idiots and it's costing us billions of dollars. I don't like having to pay for all your fat stupid asses.

Now Joe is worried about 2nd hand fat. Guess we can add that to politically correct speech, miss spelled words, Cigs, and anyone smart enough to disagree with him.

Add stupid old men like yourself to the list, take away politically-correct speech, and it's a deal.

By the way: you misspelled "miss spelled." It's amazing that you've lived this long without drowning in about 3 inches of water.

Personally, fat is not one of my problems and never has been. I think the government should take over the food industry and just ration everyone the proper foods and how much they should eat. Problem solved.

So what? I know very intelligent people that smoke them. It's their choice. I don't need anyone telling me to which diseases I'm allowed to subject myself.

You're right. Let's can immunizations while we're at it too. Public health is always best kept when in the hands of the masses.

Come on, Fab. You're a bit smarter than this. You're entering goodknightfl levels of stupid, however.

That's great that it's not a problem for you. Let's just stop doing something about obesity in this country because you're good. Look at the damn chart. Apparently, it's a problem for a lot of people out there and your thin ass is paying for it along with me and everyone else.

No one is saying that the government should do that. No one. You've added up A+B and somehow think that equals Z.

Joe, immunizations prevent pandemics and epidemics. That's different. My beef is with government intrusion and people not taking personal responsibility. I absolutely abhor corrupt politicians telling me what I'm allowed to do when most of it is none of the business.

This is all coming from the guy that had healthy fruit and covered it in 5 lbs of salt. TALK ABOUT HEALTH EATING!!!

You're right about making the leap. But it has got to start somewhere. Look at Bloomburg in New York and the shit he's always trying to pull.
