Watching Marc's induction speech, he stumped for Kirk a bit when he said that Kirk one day should be standing there as a HOF inductee.
Speraw's only Division I HC job was at UCF from 1993-2010, compiling a 247-233 record in that span. Four NCAA Tournament appearances (1994, 1996, 2004, 2005). Conference USA Coach of the Year in 2007.
From a general basketball perspective, nothing knocks your socks off but quite remarkable in another sense given UCF's budget and early focus which was 99% on football. Not much of a fanbase to speak of.
Great guy who loved being the coach here. Was able to hang on for a couple more years when Tribble wanted to fire him not only after he got here. The fans played a big role in that.
He retired from Iowa last year (he was an assistant from 2010-2022).
