Should we be worried about QB Gerry Bohanon the Baylor transfer to the south florida cows?

He got hurt late last year, didn’t recover enough to compete with the guy who was the starter before him.

I think this transfer is better than Plumlee, which hurts to say. But this probably means McClain transfers out after the season.

One player when there is talent offensively and defensively can make all the difference. For example 2013 had Bortles at qb and talented wr core but the difference maker was 4 star Miami transfer Storm Johnson at rb coming in for majority of carries plus true freshman rb Will Stanback and utility offensive guy Rannell Hall took some pressure off of using him every running play.

In usf case, i don't know if you can say that there is a lot talent offensively and defensively in that program that hasn't gotten enough wins to be bowl eligible in 4 years to have a qb transfer be a difference maker. Yes, could get them to 6-6, but no not in anyway contending for conference championship by years end. UCF, Houston, Cincinnati, Memphis and even ECU are light years ahead of usf program as a whole for 2022.

Completely agree. And because UCF plays USF in late November, USF could very well have already turned back to McClain at that point, looking to the future.

"He got hurt late last year"

By the time duh*bulls get to thanksgiving weekend he will probably be hurt again. Plus, the team dejected from losing so much and the coach on the hot seat. Not worried.

Looking at the Baylor message boards they seem to indicate he's a good kid and good leader, a running threat, but not a great passer, which is why Baylor's staff chose to name another starter early on. Some thought he'd be 3rd QB on the depth chart in Waco this year to start the season.

Can't throw the deep ball so he has no future in the NFL as a QB, no matter where he transfers or how many years of college he has left. Should've stayed here, switched positions and moved forward. He has the athleticism and body size to play in the NFL. Just needs to find the right position and could have done that here.

you should be as worried about him as other should be about JRP, meaning not that worried. they aren't QBs who can deliver the ball accurately. but at least malzahn has history with preferring QBs who can't throw.

Transfer QBs seem to be the offseason talk of the year. I thought Timmy did a good job against us and would not count him out. But to me the bigger question is do they have a coach who can call plays? Being from SC I have to say I scratched my head at Jeff Scott being hired as a head coach of a D1 program. He got his job at Clemson because of his dad who is old school SC coaching guy ex-HC of the Gamecocks and coordinator at Clemson; Scott was buddies with Dabo because he was a position coach when he took over, but I have never heard a single thing about him as a coach while at Clemson. Maybe that is because he was in the shadow of several other prominent coaches, but I just don't think the guy was head coach material. Not yet anyway. I think Covid masked his inexperience year one. Last year was a disaster but people are still blaming Charlie Strong. Maybe Chad Morris helps him this year. Don't know. But unless they get some real game day leadership it is not going to matter who the QB is.

uSF o-line has been notoriously awful. Im not sure brady could have success there
They have plenty of athletes at the skill positions, but the OL has been a huge problem. I think they got some transfers, but I’d be surprised if they’re even average.

Like few have already indicated USF offensive line will make or break his opportunity for sucess for this QB.

Come on, they were one play away from beating UCF last game. And you don't think they can muster up some improvement from last year?

I hope they don't. But...

Now they have a better QB. More depth at skill positions. Transfers from Clemson, Mizzou, Baylor Minnesota...UCF....

The offensive line cannot possibly improve either. Never.*

Just being Devil's advocate. Transfers are creating parity...

it doesn’t mean they are good ..they just play with much more animosity towards us than we do them. our players rarely match it which leads to close games and we won w a worse QB in Keene.

Right, I never said they would be good.

I said they will be likely improved, transfers helped, and they will win some games we believe they should lose.
Bad teams win games all the time. They were bad and almost beat UCF.

The defense bailed us out in THE USF game last year. I think our defense is going to give teams fits this year. Only question is LB someone needs to step up
