So is our offensive line shaping up (or will it be our Achilles' heel)?

We have to coach them up and I hope everyone is training hard this summer!
Yep...coach 'em up and call the right plays. We failed to recognize defensive schemes (example Navy) last year and our O was steamrolled by an inferior team. That can't happen this year and is one of the reasons I'm looking forward to some different play calling that identifies (and frankly is aware) what the D is doing and attacks it. We'll see...but I'm hopeful.

OMG That was a sad day. That was on the defensive coaching. I think he's gone now. NAVY just plowed right through us!
Yes, our D made no adjustments and played the equivalent of a prevent almost the entire game. They let Navy control the ball. But the O also stunk it up (14 points total against Navy...at home!) and much of that was the play calling. And it was an extremely important game where we could have clinched home field advantage for the championship game. We stunk it up on both sides of the ball. Now we should be turning the page, right?

My prediction:

LT: Grable
LG: Marshall
C: Schmidt
RG: Pauole
RT: Kight

Quality depth and maybe starters:
(T)Rubelt, (T/G) Collins,(G) Kinnie,(C/G) Metcalf.
Hopefully this will be the difference maker because these guys would be starters most years in the past.

That’s exactly how I have it and I feel like it’s a better group than last year (potentially). Grable needs to improve and I think he will.

I think we needed that game to be ranked as well. It was very important and was bad from HC down to STs players. Were not ready and/or no heart.

So 4 subs for a complete game? I didn't know big Paul was only a junior!

We have a lot of experience on this team, the whole roster, but especially the OL. Hopefully that will pay dividends this year.
Also it could be why we have a real shot at some high level OL recruits in this years class, The path to early playing time is there in 2024.

Drake Metcalf and Paul Rubelt are the wild cards. It was not a good sign for Bula when Herb Hand said he was "excited" about Metcalf joining the competition during spring training. It is never good for any party when a coach talks about a player not on the roster. (Think about all the times that a coach has said "We are only concerned about the players on the team" after a certain player gets in trouble.) Rubelt, on the other Hand, was said to have improved. I am not certain how much that was coach speak. We will find out if he is starting at right tackle. Lastly, I will add Josh Harris to the list of quality depth.

Am i the only one glad to have navy off the schedule? Our coaches seemed clueless they ran a triple option

I’m with you there. never want to see another military academy ever. Boring football, dangerous football and a trap game waiting to happen. Don’t even schedule the Citadel.

I used to cringe when people talked about expanding the AAC and mentioned inviting Air Force and Army.

We will win or lose games on the line. If we dominate there, we will dominate our games. It will be interesting to see UCF play in the cold. Hopefully we can get more Texas games later in the season as they are warmer and get those cold weather teams to come to UCF in September :)
