Looks like UCF submitted a funding request for the sports village. It’ll be interesting to see if they’re able to convince the county to support the request.

College sports draws out of town visitors. We should be a favorite spot for Big12 away game with Disney/Universal as a second destination. I don’t know if we’ll draw $100+ million worth of impact to deserve the money being requested. I’m however, glad this administration is smart enough to ask for it.

Orlando won’t support a baseball team after the novelty wears off.
I don’t understand Bianchi and others fascination w getting an MLB team. I don’t think it is worth the investment anywhere in Florida. Fans from other states for whatever reason will embrace the local nba or nhl team but they’ll never stop rooting for the Red Sox or Yankees.

If the Rays move to Tampa after a year or two the weekday crowds won’t be that much better than what Tropicana Field gets. This Orlando pitch is a publicity stunt

Would be amazing to get some more public funds to help UCF athletics (or help a project that will in some way benefit our programs) but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah I see a few tourists going to games here and maybe a few more than the marlins (especially going to see the visiting teams). But, they might get 20K to 25K per game but I don't see it being that big here. A move to Tampa might double their current attendance due to the travel route. Just a guess though.
