Spurrier...out

No it won't. He's been here twelve seasons, TWELVE!!, with multiple losing seasons in that time. No one with a reasonable amount of intelligence would look at that and think "these guys are impatient and over-reactive". Come on now.
Never 2 in a row, and most having a division title the year after -- let alone the immediately 3 preceding.

I don't like the "yo-yos" any more than you, but you cannot just can a coach for 1 bad year out of 4 top seasons.

His whole body of work defines mediocre. You cant cherrypick the win/loss record and say "hey ignore those down years because they weren't consecutive". The opposite could be just as true that he had spurts of success but not consistently. I think UCF and our fans have been way more than patient, especially given how GOL treats the media and our fanbase. Who needs that?

Spurrier: "I've become a Recruiting liability. It's hard to recruit kids when they know you won't be around in 5 years"
As of right now, we've given an extension to GoL until 2020. That said, I agree, it would be nice for him to set timelines, so everyone is aware.

Some stuff Spurrier is saying in his press conference that I wish GOL would say:

"We were #4 in the nation at one point and we have slid from that, and it's my fault, I take full responsibility for it"

"I have become a liability in recruiting. Kids want to know if a coach will be there for four or five years"

I hope GOL is watching.

Spurrier is saying EVERYTHING UCF fans wish O'leary would say to the UCF fanbase. Have accountability for the failure under your watch

He claims in one post he's not ignoring mediocrity when i emphasize his 2-8 record vs the BCS/AQ/P5 when his teams are non-BCS/non-AQ/non P5 during his 3 conference championship runs. Yet he's using the same cherrypick tactics that he claims he's not using.
And yes i think 12 years is more than patient.

In other words ... you didn't want him in the first place, and every year we do poorly, you've asked for him to be fired, correct? I'm honestly glad Hitt didn't listen to such non-sense.

Understand I do believe GoL will not do that much better next year. In fact, I do not think we'll be good again until 2017 either, with or without GoL. So I expect him to get canned by mid-next year, if he doesn't retire after this season.

But I just don't see the justification for canning any coach after 3 straight, division/conference winning seasons.

This and our 4 recruits sums things up perfectly.
Soo ... if we get rid of GoL and neither recruiting nor the results improve ... will you blame GoL for it? Even 2 years down the road? How about 4?

In all honesty, I don't see that happening. I see our recruits being upperclassmen in 2 years, and our results improvement tremendously.

Lol where did i say that? you are truly grasping at straws. Now you just want GOL to stay to damn the haters lol.
You just want GOL to stay so you can keep your pay spewing out his propaganda and yelling at us.
You know Spurrier's history is on TV right now. After watching how glorious his career is, i realize it would be a waste of money to celebrate GOL the same. This program's best days should be ahead of them, not sucking on the nipples of a coach who is taking this program down. I dont know if its GOL or Dr Hitt that reminds me of the Stewards of the Gondor eating food while its city burns down.* Have fun defending GOL in the midst of a dumpster fire.

That's what you assume.

Just because I've continued to play "devil's advocate" doesn't mean I want GoL to stay past this season. I think he would address a lot of issues by just announcing his retirement.

At the same time, I want a new HC to actually be focused on grades and recruit kids that are UCF type student-athletes. I'm afraid some of you will get your way and we'll lose that.

Really? So I'm not just a GoL nuthugger, but have a financial interest in him staying?

And a lot of you guys have ignored the recruiting success we have had these past 2 years. The kids are just young. We'll see by 2017.

Have fun changing coaches every half-year.

umm have you seen the UCF recruiting class? how could it get much worse?

A new coach may have a tough time this recruiting cycle bc they have to start building local relationships but it's a guarantee next year's cycle would be an improvement over what GOL/Key would bring in. They set the Recruiting bar very low

It makes no sense how some of our fans are still defending O'leary at this point. We've lost to FIU, Furman, Tulane and UCONN all within the same season!!! How do these people think things are going to get better when the easiest part of our schedule is in the rearview mirror?

George needs to turn in his resignation papers now and be granted the option to coach out the rest of the year if he decides thats what he wants to do. That's the classiest option we should give him based on what he's done for the program.

The only high note George will be going out on is if we can beat USF. I would totally be content with losing the rest of our games at this point as long as we beat USF and O'leary resigns.

You realize the AAC is a piece of crap conference that any half witted coach could recruit to win. Our old fart coach has even messed that up somehow yet somehow you defend this d-bag. UCF's visibility outside of Orlando is zilch, nada, and less than that of USF. Most people think of USF when UCF is mentioned outside of Florida, it's a reality.

In your own admission, you expect GOL to be fired next year. Everything GOL has said to the media does not indicate that he feels he's a liability to the program, so an early retirement seems unlikely. Therefore you forgo an entire year to go through the same steps you could go through now. You might get lucky and have a better replacement option next year, but keeping with the same coach as the team continues to spiral down will alienate a fanbase and drive recruits away until that time.

You don't pay for past perfomance. Keeping anything just because it was once valuable, but has ran it's course and has a very limited shelf life is just a poor decision.

Recruiting is continuous and we don't have enough players on the team to be good.

Wow. That speaks volumes. He throttles us by 2 TDs and a FG and then realizes that it may be time step down because it should've never been close at any point in that game. That's a down year? What the hell are we in, then?
He probably noticed how a young Diaco coached UConn squad destroyed us on the road too.

“Nothing goes on forever, I have gone on a lot longer than most,” Spurrier said. “Time to take on the adventure of the next part of my life.

“I don’t know if coaching is completely over or not,” Spurrier said. “It is fun being on a team. I might be a consultant or something. I doubt I’ll be a head coach. But who knows.”

Spurrier for OC!

"When something is inevitable, I believe you do it right then," Spurrier told the media. "You don't wait a week. You don't wait two weeks. This has to happen, let's do it and let's get started in a new direction. That's what we hope to do today."

Wow, totally agree. Please give your old pal, GOL, a call, Steve.

Spurrier never won a conference championship.

He did however finished 11-2 in 2011, 2012, and 2013. Winning a New Years Bowl each year.

And finishing in the top 10 all three years, only Alabama and Oregon can claim that.

These huggers prefer there 4 titles in the shittiest conference in FBS. UCF has rarely brought anything to the table when they were competing for division/conference titles. 3-23 as a non-AQ/P5/BCS team versus the big boys.

Absolutely not. UCF needs to make a statement by getting rid of GOL now. Why wouldn't a coach want to coach at UCF?? Look at how tolerant we are of mediocre coaching? Let's face it, there's a lot more missing here than coaching. Our whole game day package is lacking.

Ever see the commercials of the "big time" program pregame shows. The fans are electrified and crazy with passion as their teams, mascots, etc. rushing the field.

Say what you will about uniforms and school colors not mattering. The GOL-era has turned us into a vanilla on white school. Oh sure, we got to wear black last week. Wow. The other schools with great colors do something with those colors and even add color to them. UCF doesn't color outside the lines at all. It's like we're in the geriatric conference that has no vision for how the intangibles impact a program.

Our university and program is overdue for a different energy than GOL and Hitt together can bring.

One other point. We get to play for and win conference titles. Last time i checked winning trumos everything else. Some schools have cool uniforms and watch others play for and win titles.

I bet usf fans would trade any p5 victories for a chance at multiple conference trophies filling thier display....instead of an empty display case.

Take notes GOL. Instead of blaming players and insulting Fans every year look in the mirror

You could say that about probably 80-90% of all current coaches. How long is the average tenure for FBS schools? According to bleacherreport the current turnover rate for fbs coaches is 24% per year.
