Has anyone done this workout? I'm just starting it and while it feels silly starting with just the bar with no plates, I can tell it's going to get heavy really fast.
I'm wondering for anyone who has, did you plateau at any point with the amount of weight you could do and also finish the 5x5 reps? Did you also incorporate any cardio?

Thanks for bringing this up. Never heard of this before but after reading up on it yesterday, I decided to give it a try. Just did the first workout today. I didn't start with just the bar though because I already lift bro.

Compound exercises are the best for building strength and seeing weight loss. You are using more muscles per lift and are thus burning more calories.

Most isolation exercises are useless for a majority of the population. You can't spot reduce fat and toning muscles when you haven't developed them is pointless.

I'm also a big fan of spending as little time as possible in the gym. It's a douche laboratory.

I've never done this particular workout, but have done similar workouts with low rep compound exercises with good strength gains.

Yeah, I like that it's quick and to the point. While I'm going to add cardio between the workout days, I definitely like the idea of lifting weights more than running.

I mostly do isolation lifting 3 days a week and yoga on some of the off days. Compound exercise are definitely better but my joints don't react to that type of lifting like they did when I was 20.

Why did you quit the crossfit cult?

The cost. We just had our dog rack up thousands in vet bills to save her and at the same time our little dude had an overnight stay at Arnold Palmer so financially we can't swing it on a monthly basis. Once we build our savings back up I want to go back, but for now I want to at least lose the baby weight and get strong again. And I miss lifting weights.

You should just learn to be happy with your unhealthy body. If people make fun of you, gather all your friends and launch a full scale social just warrior fat shaming campaign against that person. #stopfatshaming

Understood, I had friend who lost 100 lbs doing it. He said his gym was a bit cultish but he didn't mind until a few affairs occurred leading to some people being booted. It was too awkward for him.

Ha, yeah it does bring people together- we just attended the wedding of two of our old coaches. It really was the most fun I've ever had working out and I loved it. I can't wait to get back to it one day soon.

Are you still doing this workout? I have been doing it for a month now. The weights are definitely getting heavier. Overall, I have really enjoyed it. I have pretty much cut out all cardio in the last couple weeks and I'm still seeing results with definition. Thanks again for putting me on to this.

This is the same problem I have. It isn't with just one or two, it seems they all suck...fvcking joints

I found using a foam roller helps with the knee tightness/pain I get from these types of lifts.

I actually started this program after seeing this thread; I needed a structured program to force me to work out. It's tough to find time with a 6 month old. So far, I really enjoy it and the weight is starting to get heavy. I'll probably have to deload soon.

I can't lift as heavy as I'd like, period. My joints are pretty beat-up. I'm not a big guy but always tried to keep up with guys bigger than me so, at 49 years old, I'm paying for it now. I'm just lifting heavy enough to stay fit...besides, I'm at the gym by 330 am which is sucky enough. Lifting heavy would make it suck more.
