The UCF Knights Men's Basketball team is preparing to open their home Big 12 slate when they welcome Kansas to Addition Financial Arena on Sunday, January 5th.

The Knights upset Kansas last season at home, but they know they'll have to play at their best if they want a chance to do it again.

More here from Dwayne Jones ... for the Sons of UCF.

The 2024 Sonny’s
A staple of the Sons of UCF coverage over the years has been the annual Sonny awards, given out to members of the football team based on their performance in that season. As you know, 2024 was a challenging year, but the Sonny’s must go on.
A couple of category notes: a player is labeled as a newcomer if this is his first year with the program (transfer or freshman). A player is eligible for the breakout category if they have been with the Knights for at least a season (redshirts included). Everything else should be pretty self explanatory. Without further adieu…

Offensive Newcomer - Jacoby Jones, WR

Get a lot of time for Thiam. Make the second half a learning time
Shooting percentage is crazy so far with 5 minutes left

Well, Well. I've said it again and again but you fools keep supporting JD--what a bunch of moronic losers you are. If this is to continue, they should just drop BB as a viable sport for UCF. Keeping a terrible coach like Dawkins is like looking over and over in the same pocket for your STILL missing car keys!

Two more years after this year on his contract, same with Messer I think. Does Terry pull the plug with the full B12 payout starting soon?

I have complained about JD but the level of patience for basketball and football are two different things.

In Football UCF should never be down for too long and do what Gus did in Year 4.

In Basketball I get being encouraged about how he is starting to recruit to hopefully see a tourney run. The question is that it may not matter with his scheme and offense. But I am surprised Terry didn’t fire him after the last year in the AAC to get his own hire in.

To put it into perspective, Kansas was preseason #1 and do have some great players. 11 new players on UCF's team.

I'm surprised Vegas said only 4.5 points pregame. I should have bet Kansas but didn't make any bet.

However, what I saw was the refs were letting them play early and not call ticky-tacky fouls. UCF players were getting upset on the calls and seemed to be questioning them (nocall or called). Then, Kansas had way more energy and NBA caliber players that just played way better. Seemed like they were playing with a chip-on-shoulder after getting beat by West Virginia the previous game.

UCF offensive flow sucked. Trying to go isolation plays against a veteran team didn't work. I liked what UCF did to Texas Tech and work the inside plays looking for fouls and easy buckets, but the refs weren't calling it the same as that game. UCF, on many occasions, blatantly just not blocking out Kansas on both O and D plays. Kansas had too many second chances on rebounds.

For coaching, meh. Out-coached by Kansas. Nothing like last year's game.

Next game Wednesday @ colorado

Go Knights.

Selling your two tickets for $235/ticket so I could not have to be there to watch this ass-kicking….priceless.

Thank you Kansas fan or scalper for paying for 48% of my season ticket costs for the second year in a row. You will be sorely missed as a home game next season.
I sold mine for $250 each. Two seats. I'm very happy I did

Did Johnny even get up off the bench to coach? Maybe we don't have intensity because you are a stick in the mud. It seems like other very successful teams have a fired up coach that's really into the game
