Sweet tea, unsweet, 1/2 and 1/2, or Arnold Palmer?

How do you take yours?

I only used to drink sweet but it's mostly unsweet these days. I do enjoy an Arnold Palmer though every now and then.

Why isn't this a poll? Also, why no John Daly option?
First, I mainly do unsweet these days. I'm not sure if it's just my taste buds, but the sweet tea seems really, really sweet to me. Much sweeter than I remember. I used to love Chick-Fil-A and Sonny's sweet tea, but if I go to those places now I have to order half and half (or even 75/25). I have actually been doing Arnold Palmers more and more now that it's summer. But even that is about 80% tea and 20% lemonade.

As for a John Daly...I haven't really been able to get into them because they're mostly made with that sweet tea vodka crap which is too syrupy and too sweet. Here's a recipe I found not too long ago that makes the best John Daly around (I've tweaked it slightly to account for a little more bourbon. The original recipe only called for 2 oz. of Four Roses.):

3-4 oz. Four Roses bourbon
3/4 oz. Freshly squeezed lemon juice (I strain it twice to remove pulp, etc.)
3/4 oz. Honey syrup (Made just like simple syrup - 1 part water to 1 part honey; although, I dilute mine a little more. I like to go 1.5:1, or so. Just bring it to a boil while stirring regularly and then let it simmer and stir occasionally. I usually let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes after it has boiled. Then, you can chill it and I think it will last for a few weeks...although, mine never lasts that long.)

Put just those three ingredients in a shaker and shake vigorously for at least 15 seconds. Pour over ice and enjoy. Wash, rinse, repeat. Wake up the next morning on the back porch with an impression of one of those pool noodles across your face.

Sweetened when I go out but if I'm at home feeling lazy, unsweetened it is. No Arnold Palmer.

I do a poor man's John Daly (lol) that is a bit like the one you described. Three-second pour of Evan Williams over ice, splash of 7-up, a bit more than a splash of tea, drop of honey, quarter of a lime squeezed, and then dump the rind in the glass. Shake. Drink. Repeat.

If y'all made proper sweet tea, y'all wouldn't need to drink half and half. Too many places make sugar tea, not proper sweet tea.
And unsweet is for the diabetics.

.

The only problem with unsweet is all the chaos it causes for waitresses/order takers. You always have to enunciate UNNNNsweet very very clearly. They'll still ask you again, did you say sweet?, and then ask you again at the window if it's a drive through and then they still might get it wrong.

I don't drink tea, but my wife has been a 50/50 tea lately. She used to be unsweetened tea and found the same thing Bob did so the 50/50 was a safe alternative to getting stuck with sugar water.

The Publix 50/50 "Arnold Palmer" is awesome.
Here, in the south, 100% sweet tea is undrinkable. By weight it's probably more sugar than water.

50/50 if i'm craving something sweet but usually just unsweet now. Sweet tea at restaurants is entirely tooooooooooo sweet.

Only rednecks drink sweet tea.

Only douchebags drink vodka. Royale douchebags drink the flavored crap.
