Eagle, what was the process that made you come to the conclusion that permanently putting ink into your skin was a good idea?
When I was about 6 or 7 years old a great uncle (who had served in the navy during WWII) took me on a little fishing trip and as we started reeling in the catfish he rolled up his sleeves showing a tattoo on his forearm. I wanted a tattoo from that point forward but waited well into adulthood to get my first one. It wasn't like I grew up surrounded by people with ink, hell, I don't think I saw another tattoo on anyone for YEARS after that first one, so they were very novel and unique back in those days. My tattoos (I only have a few) are symbolic of some of my deepest passions so I enjoy having them permanently on my skin.
Incidentally, my uncle passed away last year at 101 and is buried in Arlington - he was a retired Admiral so his tattoo didn't diminish his abilty to rise to the top of his field.
