Driss Oukabir, from Morocco, was previously released from prison in 2012...but had been living in Spain for quite awhile. He had visited Madrid earlier (maybe lived nearby) and didn't arrive in Barcelona till just a few days ago on August 13th.
He rented the Van some 18 miles outside of Barcelona yesterday (might have rented another vehicle at same time too).
Oukabir made posts on his fb page towrd the end of July complaining about Jewish Occupation in Palestine.
Facebook has taken his account down.
Crazy update: The suspect terrorist was said to be in a town 18 miles away and it was probably his younger 18 yr old brother that stole his passport and was responsible for the van attack that.killed at least 12 people.
I'm going with 85 in this. I know he travels quite a bit for work.

Everyone by now has seen some of the first cell phone video shot just moments after the attack. Some victims seem clearly dead while some survivors walk around almost in shock.
One thing I can imagine doing is my first reaction to be pull out my cell phone and start recording vs rendering aid to some of the victims.

Believe 4 were killed in a town 70 miles south of Barcelona along the coast. The Barcelona Van driver might have been one of them.
Bomb(s) went off and or were discovered at a town West of Barcelona last night which they now think was related to today's attack.
35 yr old Father of 2, was walking down the pedestrian way with his wife and 5 yr old, was the first person identified victim.
Also killed and not yet identified was a 3 yr old girl.

For what I read it was straight from the movies: terrorists ram police car, which overturns. Cop gets out of the car (partner has broken leg) and start fire fight with terrorists. Cop kills 4 terrorists and 1 escapes.

Spanish authorities announced that Younes Abouyaaqoub, the suspected driver in a deadly vehicle attack in Barcelona that killed 13 people, was shot and killed Monday. He was wearing what appeared to be an explosive belt at the time, police said.
Glad that 18 yr old punk got what he deserved. He ruined so many family lives forever.
