The rest of the B12 will have to grab a few replacements from the MWC/AAC/BYU and become a G6 conference. They'll be able to poach us based on their existing TV/bowl contracts even if everyone knows they'll be devalued.
The B12 is a P conf until the end of the current Bowl and Access rules. If they hold together as the B12, which they will. with or without the top 2 to 4 schools they simply reload and continue forward. It is no different than it was for BE in 2003.
The big dif is they have at least a couple of prez who see where they are and realize they need to grow now and not later. Had the BE done that with football between 2003 to 2008 it (might) still be a power league today. The main reason for the might is if they added only 1 FB only they likely still are likely whee they are now. If they added 2 to 4 FB only they may well still be a P6 league. The weakest link without a doubt, but still a power league.
@goodknightfl is correct. The Sugar Bowl and the CFP have a contract with the Big 12, not with "the top 2-4 schools". Unless enough schools want to leave at the same time and agree to dissolve the conference (to avoid GOR exit fees), they'll still be a P5.If the top 2-4 schools leave the big 12 then there is no reloading. It would cease to be a P5 conference. the big 12 dissolves
If the top 2-4 schools leave the big 12 then there is no reloading. It would cease to be a P5 conference. the big 12 dissolves
Another comment that shows your ignorance of facts. The B12 cannot be kicked out of the P5 just because 2 schools leave. The conference would still exist with 80% of the schools that currently comprise a P5 conference. Same holds true if 4 teams left.
Three out of 10 schools leaving is still not enough to dissolve the B12.
And yes, being in a conference with Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, Kansas State and the best of the AAC would be better because that conference would receive more TV money than the current AAC, and would include two teams that have been in the Top 10 consistently over the last few years.
Moron I said the big 12 would dissolve if Texas and Oklahoma left. Big ten would swoop in to take Kansas..
Also, no collection of schools in the G5 would save the conference's P5 status. They would essentially be the AAC the first year. I'm sure you would just be fine with UCF being in a joke of a "power" league.
