1. God I can’t wait until the student body returns for the Spring Semester!!
2. Game 1 of the Shawn Finney Era-ette, with a solid win. After tonight he’s assured of rising above Phil Carter in career percentage wins, and with one more he’ll surpass both Chuck Machock and Joe Dean Jr. Pretty solid coaching job (especially putting in the zone D), but he did have a more limited rotation.
3. Even though they were 12-2, I thought we’ve played better teams at home than Tulane tonight. They did have their 7’0” transfer C out with knee problems, though. Kinda like us without Tom Herzog last season.
4. Marcus played a really tough game. He earned every point, whether driving, jumpers or at the FT line.
5. No celebrity sightings, pretty lethargic crowd.
6. So Tulane scores on their first 2 possessions in the 1st minute on drives down the lane. Enter the 2-3 zone. They only score 11 points in the next 10 minutes. As much as I like a man D, we’re becoming a pretty respectable zone D team.
7. Keith had a tough offensive game, scoring only 8 points - denying him the 1,000 point plateau. But he had enough rebounds to get him over 600 for his career, as well as 3 blocks.
8. Knight Moves were bedecked in short, shimmery gold dresses tonight, accompanied by brand new, Santa supplied stocking stuffer (I LOVE alliterations!) high-heeled, knee-high leather UCF logo’d black boots. While I was mesmerized by the boots, CK recalled how our HS HC would have thrown them off the court for wearing footwear that scuffed the floorboards…
9. We can’t seem to enjoy big leads. We twice squandered 14+ point leads - better teams will make us pay for that.
10. AJ was 4 for 5 from the floor tonight, including three 3’s. Good game, and we’re better with him in the game.
11. 31 rebounds - in the first half!! Josh was a presence inside, Dwight had back-to-back possessions when he blocked a shot, and had a rebound. PJ really played well, 8 points (two 3’s), and several rebounds.
12. Love ya’ Isaiah, but you’ve gotta lose the headband. Twice in 2 games it’s caused a distraction that caused a bad play.
