the Line for FIU game

Las Vegas has us favored by 2 points.

Part of the road to recovering from 0-12 season. If we were .500 or better last
season, I'm sure the spread would be more but rival FL games are closer
than usual because of H.S. bragging rights and recruiting rankings :)

Let's just get some major points on the board this game.

ofcourse they make a change for the UCF game, it's the 1 game that they try to get their students up for

is Alexander a true freshman?

so expecting crickets but to anyone that has watched FIU how is their rush defense?

have a feeling Hamilton will have that extra step playing in his hometown

I watched Maryland @FIU and Maryland had good success with over 5 yards per carry including a 40 yard homerun by that little freshman #23 Harrison. Maryland probably showed more balance than we have right now as Hills was hitting D.J. Moore wide open downfield on the regular, but hopefully Milton will be able to make some plays through the air as well. I'd expect FIU to try and load up the box and force Milton to beat them in the air. Even so, I think if we found success running in Ann Arbor we can do it in Miami with a healthy dose of our speedy freshmen.

Hopefully the UCF offense can get off to a good start on the road.

I think someone else needs to step up and make a big play other than T. Smith and Killins.

There have been situations where I think we could feed Tre'Quan even more - specifically when he's been 1 on 1 in the redzone against shorter corners against SC State and Maryland. The other receiving threats definitely need to show out more and hopefully if we get the QB situation sorted out that will happen soon. I'm looking directly at Tristan Payton to break out, he has been way too quiet in the last 2 games.

I just saw it down to UCF favored by 5.5 on a popular online book.

I'm a little shocked to see this line under a TD. Maryland manhandled FIU @FIU and yet barely escaped UCF in 2 OT after being gifted the turnover battle +4. FIU may put up more of a fight due to the in-state factor, but McKenzie Milton isn't likely to put the ball on the ground a hundred times again and FIU has the same level of experience at QB. Anyone who thinks there's many similarities between 2015 game against FIU and the 2016 game probably hasn't been paying attention in the last year. I'm considering placing a wager on this one.

Give Marc a video cam and let him do the game. It'd be a hundred times better than the usual ESPN3 games.

This Program's track record vs In State teams is not good so that might have something to do with it. I hope that changes under Frost.

Under GOL
2-2 vs FIU
2-5 vs USF

Definitely. We have a series coming up against FAU soon also. With USF and UCF in the same conference now I expect that series to get pretty even with teams trading up and down years, but we need to show clear distance between the FAU/FIU types starting with this Saturday night matchup.

I feel like we win this game big, but every time I feel a big win, I get let down. In 2011, we started out 2-0, were outscoring opponents 92-3 coming off a huge win over BC, I was so confident we'd kill FIU. Then, when we lost I was dumbfounded. Same with last year's loss because I had no idea it would be an 0-12 year.

Hopefully, we win big and show more growth. I just don't want to predict anything like in previous years. Regardless, the line does seem a little low.

That 2011 loss was devastating. It's one of the top 10 losses in this program's history IMO. I don't think that this FIU team is a good as that one.

yeah that's why I have cautious optimism

To me the toughest losses as a UCF fan are to the In State teams, in the past we never seem to match the intensity for these games under GOL. Even the Fiesta Bowl year was dangerously close to losing to a bad USF team at Home

This should be a cakewalk this time around, but nice tuneup for easing into the conference. In three weeks, we could be 4-2 before things get tough again. By that time, we should be ready for the tough parts of the schedule.

Apparently it's the southernmost Division-1 college football stadium in the U.S.A., so it's definitely South Florida.

There still several northern schools in FBS with around 10,000 in average attendance (and the NCAA doesn't seem to want to enforce it's own required minimums).

I'm going to have to disagree with you. No way is this a cake walk. FIU will be hitting hard and throwing everything at us. We were 0-12 last year. This will be a tough game :)

Love that we're using this opportunity to show some love to the real South FL. Need those recruits.

Yes, it would be good to spread the ball around a little more. We have several other playmakers that can get involved. Looking forward to breakouts from Dredrick and Tristan soon... Milton may get a couple of good runs to open things up also.

Correct. We could blow this team out, lose to them (again), or just squeak by for a victory. We are a 6.5 point favorite and FIU is playing at home and hungry for a win. We are playing a true freshman QB in his 2nd game and it's sort of a rivalry game at least for FIU.

Anyone who thinks that this is a cakewalk is fooling themselves. Again!!!
