This time it’s a poor little boy named Alfie Evans. His parents want to remove he boy to seek alternate treatment, but the U.K. government has asserted the right to determine how he dies supersedes his parents wishes, and removed life support 4 hours ago. The boy is now still fighting for his life.

The U.K. has a government run health care system where there is no seperation between government and the doctors. The will of the State will be mandated by the doctor, even if it goes against a parents wishes for their own child.

The Pope has voiced support to let the parents decide the fate of their own child. Italy has granted emergency citizenship and a hospital awaits to give the boy further treatment.

The U.K. government so far does not care and is intent on seeing the child’s death through.

Alfie Evans has fought on his own now for 14 hours and is still alive. The same murderous judge who sentenced him to death originally is going to hear a “follow on argument” later today

The Italian Embassy has informed the British Government that failure to keep him back on life support and/or grant him passage to Italy will be deemed as a murderous act by the Italian Government

His parents just said they’ve had to give their son mouth to mouth to keep him breathing several times as they wait for the U.K. government to impose their will.

Which is now starving and suffocating the boy to death.
He has already been granted Italian citizenship and a plane is waiting to take him to Italy to receive treatment. The U.K. Government is again preventing this, asserting rights to Alfie that supersede the parents.

But no- tyranny doesn’t exist in modern western societies. Not at all.

Always pathetic to read a circle jerk of the WC's best and brightest celebrating the death of a child in order to advance their political agenda.

FFS you all are disgusting.

How is that possible? The parents can't take their own kid from the government? What if this was the new little prince with a terrible disease or sickness?

The Pope has offered his own medical center to bring the child to. Armed guards met the parents and protestors when they attempted to enter the facility to take Alfie out.

The child is reduced to state property

Hmm seems to me that we are voicing our DISGUST over this, you goddamn cretin.

We know you’re a cynical, godless hate monger. Crawl back under your rock and stay out of this

Wow, I'm the hate monger? @Brandon what happened to enforcing the water cooler rules?

You clearly don’t give a shit about what’s happening or the child. You’re here to ruin ANOTHER THREAD by being a supreme dickhead. You are insufferable.

Honestly does this bring you joy? Does spreading hate and trying to pick fights in every thread give you pleasure? You’re one of the most twisted, sick people I’ve ever seen on the board.

No, I'm pointing out how pathetic it is you three are here chearing the death of a child over political differences.

What have I ever done that can be remotely considered sick and twisted? YOU are the one stalking people's wives. YOU are the one calling people crazy, moron, twisted, sick, cretin, godless, disgusting. YOU are the one telling multiple people to kill themselves.

You are the one with issues. Everyone can plainly see it.

And this is what that evil Bill of Rights is around for. I obviously don't have kids but I couldn't imagine the government telling me my parents, siblings or neices and nephews are going to die because they say so. Huh, where have we seen that before. Absolutely disgusting.

Amen. Sadly this boy will die at the hands of the U.K. Governemnt unless something is done

I really don't understand why they aren't free to leave the country by their own freewill and travel to a destination of their choice and pursue healthcare. That's fukcing tyrannical.

Unless I am missing something, it's essentially them saying, "We will no longer help you and your child and yes, we are going to prevent YOU from helping YOUR child in every way we possibly can. Fukc you and have a nice day. But he's a fighter!!!"

Yes. This is exactly what’s happened.

I would Understand if the government said that they medically feel nothing more could be done and they will stop paying for treatment. And let them leave to try other treatments on their own.

But they’re denying them the right to take their own son to Italy. It’s unreal. It’s tyranny.

I haven't followed this case at all, but if the above is true, I don't know who on the "left" would "Want this in America". At least nobody I associate with. If you conflating the general position liberals have on abortion with this type of scenario, you are...well...yeah...

I don’t think liberals would want this outcome. However it’s an unintended consequence of socialized medicine. This is like the third time it’s happened in the U.K.

It's not unintended or unanticipated. If you're going to cover everything with tax dollars for everyone with no ability to make drastic supply changes, care is going to have to be rationed. This is a natural part of socialized medicine. Even Obamacare had a rationing panel built into the legislation.

You should probably walk this one back. Whether it's to prove a political point, to settle a personal score, or to just win an argument, diminishing what is happening to a 2 year old kid is not ok.

I don’t even care about that at this point. If the U.K. is saying that they don’t medically see the point in paying for treatment then ok. I think it’s a flaw of socialized medicine but still- ok.

The bigger issue here isn’t that. It’s them saying that they will no longer pay for treatment AND denying the kids own parents the right to seek treatment elsewhere. That is absolutely inhuman.

Especially when the Italians and the Vatican already have citizenship, transport, and care waiting for the boy.

Because it will undermine the legitimacy of socialized healthcare. If these parents are allowed to take their child elsewhere to get the treatment they feel is appropriate then it shows the rest of the populace how ineffective their system is.

Good points. The only thing that I can think they’d be thinking is that public opinion of their system would be undermined if people started seeking their care elsewhere and eventually the system would die due to public pressure. Well, either that or the insane demand that everybody receive the exact same care no matter what.

It's not much different than Goebbels.

Absolutely not, this politicizing of a 2 year old's death with people treating it like a goddamn team sport is just disgusting. The OP, and first two replies are all the proof you need of how pathetic the WC has become.

They don't care about public opinion. They have the power and authority and feel that it can't be taken away.

Who said anything about abortion? This is the healthcare system that is on the liberal platform.

The OP wasn't political at all. The next 2 were referencing the faulty nature of the system that brings this type of thing to fruition and are legitimate concerns. Also, the boy isn't dead, but the doctors involved are not doing anything to prevent it. As if that isn't bad enough, the legal system is preventing the child from being taken somewhere that CAN treat him, and is also threatening legal action against the parents if they even touch the child.

How is there another side to this discussion on any level?

I'm sure nobody on the left "wants" this, but it is an unintended consequence of the policies they advocate for.

Also, what does abortion have to do with this?

You are admitting they are blatantly turning this horrific situation political, as they do with all their posts. Also the title of the OP is just patheticly wrong. the UK government is not killing this child, a terrible disease that some of the best doctors in one of the most advanced countries in the world can not even identify is what is killing this child. What the UK government is doing is wrong, but they are not to blame for this childs death, and no government could save this child. The one thing that could save him, the OP is blatantly against (science).

I grant you Extra points for the use of the term conflating . One of my favorites

Bingo. This kid getting better in Italy after they were prepared to forcibly assure he dies would be a doomsday scenario for the NHS

these quotes are so true.

not to mention the horrendous wait times in their health care system. or that time they postponed needed surgeries for months because of other shortages. but hey socialized healthcare is great! mean while we technically have it here in the us and i dont know a single person that claims the va is great.

I will politicize this ... this event in the U.K. Is exactly why I refuse to give up my guns.

God only knows what I would do if the government wouldn't allow me to take my child to another hospital for a different opinion on his condition.

When a government gets like this, it's time to rise up.

A UK court has now ruled again that the boy is not allowed to leave the country, despite the Italians waiting with a plane to immediately take him to the Vatican care center for treatment.

Instead they're now discussing "possibly" allowing the parents to take their own son home. To die.
