The Democratic party is now just as much the party of illiberals as the Republican party.
In fact, the Republicans -- in their arguments against US media and news -- are actually using more liberal arguments than the Democrats now.
But the right still have far too of an illiberal base, of which the left has now joined en masse.

Strange times.
