This time at UCF, Scott Frost won't need to catch lightning in a bottle

2013 was a great year for UCF. With only one loss to Steve Spurrier's South Carolina Gamegocks. Spurrier got smart in the 2nd half and just stuck to running the ball and use SEC lineman to overpower us to take the very narrow win.

The Bowl game against Big 12 winner and 17 point favorites Baylor was icing on the cake! But, the best game was beating Louisville and ruining their perfect season and Teddy Bridgewater's Heisman chances.

That eye roll is why you can stick a piece of corn up your Husker ass and stop posing as a UCF fan. You're almost as bad as Lobo. That's why you CONTINUOUSLY go back and forth with him.

Discrediting all of those top 10 matchups I mentioned while talking down on the 2013 version of the Big East/AAC. Gtfoh with your bullshit.
Jesus, where is your hate coming from? Instead of debating my point, you immediately fly off the handle and insult me. Same as you did when I made the horrible mistake of saying ....gasp!...."our" Knights. Funny how this 'UCF poser' with 'a corncob up my butt' has been around here since 2016 and has thousands more posts on UCFSPORTS.com than you do.

Back to the point I made that set you off, cherry-picking games from the 2013 season isn't the same as a conference slate full of Big XII games (or the B1G or the SEC.) If you can't understand the difference, I'm not sure what more I can say. I'm sorry, but a 2013 conference slate of Memphis, Louisville, UConn, Houston, Temple, Rutgers, SMU and USF doesn't exactly strike fear in the hearts of college football fans.

I agree. I never said it wasn't. I'm simply saying Year 1 of the AAC was not the same as Year 1 or 2 has been for UCF in the Big XII. For some here to say it was 'all about Malzahn,' tells me they don't really understand the jump they made.

Bingo. Now take those Gamecocks linemen and play teams with similar P4 linemen eight or nine times in a row.

Look at Cincinnati, Houston and UCF…what happened the second that did it have to play all those AAC G5 teams?
Houston has been bad for years and Cincy sucked after Ridder left. Those 3 weren’t great even in AAC the last few years.

Cherry picking......we played 3 top 10 teams and beat Penn State in Happy Valley. Beat top 10 Louisville on the road. Beat top 10 Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl. Lost by only 3 points to top 10 South Carolina. You damn right those results would strike fear in the hearts of college football fans. A whole lot more than Nebraska has struck in any in a very long time! You can bet that!

I've been around this board since the early 2000s and been posting since 2009. You having more posts here than me as a damn Nebraska fan might just mean my life is more active than yours. Or maybe it just means you're aware of how long your Huskers have sucked. So you're more entertained posting with Knights. Who have damn sure won alot more than YOUR "Big Dawg" conference cornmen lately.

Near impossible? Doesn’t at least one G5 champion have a guaranteed spot in the playoffs?
correct. If the AAC champ was undefeated they almost always will have a crack at playoff. That might change next year if Pac 12 also had undefeated team. As of today a Belt or Mac school also being undefeated is unlikely to get in over AAC.

FWIW, I created my Rivals account back in 2003 on Nebraska's Rivals board. But I ended up not usinig it and posting to a different board instead. Flash forward to 2016 when I came here interested in following Scott Frost's head coaching career at UCF. I tried creating a UCF account here and discovered I couldn't because I had that old Rivals account I created back in 2003. So I used it. If it hadn't already had an account, I suspect I would've created something like 'newknightfan.' It was never my intention to throw DaShuckster in peoples' faces. Back then, I never realized it would be such a problem for people here.

If you were to go through my old posts here, you'll never find a single Nebraska taunt. (The closest I've come was this past week when I challenged LoboCane to a Huskers vs Canes bet.) I supported Hype after Frost left and when he left for Tennessee, I supported Malzahn until he bailed. Over the years, the only time I've went off was in 2023 when UCF had a big home lead over Baylor at halftime and Knight fans left in droves. Inside a half-empty stadium, Baylor staged a big come-from-behind win. Given my screen name, I was roundly blasted for it here. The fact I was dead right was irrelevant. So I've tended to keep my mouth shut and just lurk most of the time.

One last thing: You've also blasted me for...gasp!...engaging with our two trolls. WTH? There are only a handful of posters posting here right now, including them.. This is a message board for crying out loud! I'm here to talk football, college football in general and UCF in particular. FYI, my forum behavior is will have zero impact on them. If you want something done, PM Brandon. Until this place gets a moderator who will pay attention to what's going on here, nothing is going to change.

Stop talking shit about my Knights and our success on OUR message board. Save your backhanded compliments about our 2013 and 2017 teams and how you don't think either could hold up against "Big Dawg" conference lines for a full season.

Stop bunching UCF in with other G5s from back then. You know we were an exception. Typical G5s don't win in Happy Valley, beat 2 top 10 teams, and lose to another by just 3 points, all in one season. Our lines held up just fine.

You brought up Ohio State. We also played them tough in Columbus in 2012. We had more talent and depth than most G5 by then. Now if we're talking back when UCF was leading your Huskers at halftime back in 97, yeah, depth on our lines was a problem. That's why your team won in the end. Don't say UCF didn't have the depth in 2013 and 2017 to compete with the "Big Dawgs" for a full season because we did.

To put it another way, if USF went undefeated in the G5 AAC this year and won their bowl game, would you all recognize their claim to be this year's CFB national champs?
This assumes more than one G5 goes undefeated (and loses in the "playoff" early), and USF does not qualify as an at-large team.....

If they were the ONLY FBS undefeated team (we were), beat a team that beat the other top 3 seeds in the bowl (we did), ended up as #1 in at least one BCS accepted computer model (we did), and received multiple #1 position votes in the end of year AP poll (so far in the "playoff" era we are still the only team to do that, we received 6), then yes, USF would qualify as a true National Champion.
