-Milton is not the future, decision making will improve and he will become more poised with experience. That being said, his throwing motion is atrocious and he just simply isn't a D1 QB. If you want to win 6-7 games a year, he's your guy. If you want to win anything worthwhile you must go with someone else (hopefully a good HS recruit)
-Our in game coaching, especially on offense, is below average at best. Don't get me wrong, Frost has done an excellent job getting the players to buy in to his vision. However, play calling is just as bland as the GOL days. All of this hype about an exciting offensive scheme and I just don't see it. To Frost's defense, the personnel (especially the OL) is not where it needs to be at all.
-Speaking of the OL, they have regressed once again. The run protection is the worst you'll see in D1. The more I watch football, the more I realize and appreciate just how crucial an offensive line is to the success of a team. It is something that the common fan really overlooks. That's the root of our problem.
-The Defense gets a pass. They were most likely gassed given how quickly our offense found themselves off the field. Way too many three and outs. I was disappointed with our DL though, they got manhandled. Massive holes! The secondary wasn't too bad at all.
-WR's have to get much better at blocking. Most of our screen passes get blown up because guys are not blocking anyone out in front. Give guys like Killins a little bit of a hole and good things will happen. Coach Beckton was great at putting emphasis on blocking for our receivers group. I'm not so sure Troy Walters (new WR coach and OC) is doing the same.
-Matthew Wright was solid. There's a bright spot
-Dredrick Snelson has a bright future. He looks to have great hands. Hopefully he doesn't transfer.
-The Freshman class is very promising
In summary, fans should still be happy with this season. We are dramatically better than we were last year (especially on D). We desperately need to find our true QB of the future in this upcoming class. If we can recruit a halfway decent QB this team will be a force. We have the weapons. It would be nice if we could use them. I'm very happy with where this program stands.
