Top 5 sitcoms of all time.

1. Seinfeld
2. Fraiser
3. Night Court
4. Modern Family
5. Big Bang Theory

3 through probably 10 would be tough to distinguish.

Some other good ones not listed: Newheart, King of Queens, and Rules of Engagement

I'm an engineer, Sheldon and Raj are not that far fetched from some of my coworkers.
What's sad about BBT is that the characters themselves aren't bad. I think the actors in that show bring a lot to the table. It's the formulaic writing and horrible joke telling that ruins the show. Those actors with a talented writing staff could take that same idea and produce something palatable. I think the same thing of Two and a Half Men.

In addition to getting rid of the effing laugh track.

From the moment Scrubs came on air in 02, all laugh tracks needed to be gone. It adds nothing to a show. Same for HIMYM.

Unless I missed it, I am very surprised no one mentioned Roseanne.

It didn't age well, but at the time it was a departure from the happy family sitcom that everything outside of Married...with Children was like.

The irony is that Chuck Lorre was a writer and co-producer on Roseanne.

I can't think of anything John Goodman doesn't make better. He brought so much to O' Brother Where art thou and Inside Llewyn Davis were great films that he made better. His guest role in Community was amazing. That's not to mention the movies and shows he has starred in ( Big Lebowski, etc.). He is the most underrated actor of this generation.

Agree about it not aging well, but the early days of it were very good.

They went to work then came home and drank beer, talked about beer, began to brew their own beer, marketed and sold their beer...what's not to love? Buzz Beer, beer with coffee in it to keep you awake so you can drink more beer!

To go the other way, I recently was in a hotel and 2 Broke Girls came on. It's honestly the worst piece of television that I've ever witnessed. And yet somehow this show made it past its' first season.

The show is as if mach and Boston got together and started writing what they considered to be funny.

Not even the brunette's cleavage could salvage any of it.

Never seen it, but from the name it shouldve been a porn instead of a sitcom.

I watched it once. I remember being mad that it got better ratings than New Girl (which had an amazing first two seasons). Same way I was mad that BBT always got better ratings than the brilliant Community. Arrested Development was canceled because it couldn't corral the attention of the mouth breathing Everybody Loves Raymond/Friends crowd.

Please also consider this my argument against democracy.

The Drew Carey Show was pretty damn good.

I'll third that. The show had so many talented comedic actors. Besides Carey: Craig Ferguson. Ryan Stiles, Diedrich Bader, Christa Miller and John Carroll Lynch. Crazy talented cast.

Another Chuck Lorre CBS production.

Along with BBT, Two and a Half Men, Mike & Molly, and Mom. All absolute garbage.

They're not great shows but they're good filler if nothing else is on. You all sound like DMarino and his bashing of pop music.

I'm not that old, but nobody has mentioned All in the Family. That was a pretty ground breaking show.

4. Simpsons
3. Community
2. Arrested Development

Arrested development was funny but people have some idea like it was amazing in the same way sci fi nerds have this idea that firefly was the greatest scifi show of all time. It doesnt have the body of work to be on the list IMO...

Seinfeld was a great show but how do people compare it to I love lucy, or mash, or dick van dyke?

I think you have to take it in eras...

Lucy was amazing for her time in the 50s...

Mash used Satire and humor to tell people how horrible war was...

that said, the question was your own personal favorites so...

5. That 70s show
4. Seinfeld
3. South park
2. Futurama
1. Married with children
