Tristan Payton ..... highest ranked non-P5 ...

O'leary:

On WR Tristan Payton:

"He's a playmaker. Playmaker. I like his personality. He's very
alive. He's a competitor. That's what I like. Plus he catches all
types of throws, whether it's across the middle, deep throws, short
throws, and once he gets it he makes hay with it. With his hands, he
makes plays with the ball in his hands. He's a very talented player.
All the receivers, I thought all will help us. They have some range and
some height to them."

G5 schools signed just one player in ESPN's Top 142 recruits....and that was the #95, Tristan Payton to UCF!

Give UCF the P5 label...and watch out!

I just saw that cornerback Rashard Causey, Jr. is also on that ESPN 300 list at #247. UCF is the only G5 school with two signees on that list. In fact, there are very few G5 schools that have one signee on that list. The only other ones I saw mentioned were BYU, Tulsa, Ohio, San Diego State, Houston, and San Jose State. Maybe these rankings will all mean nothing once next season starts . . . who knows? I am glad, at least, that UCF is bringing in players with solid credentials.
