True Detective 2 and other HBO premieres

LOL, what did it for you? I mean you at least have to watch the finale since you've come this far.
Everything really. The introduction of new characters each week, the gay ruse that you mentioned, the escort party (even though - and not to sound too much like barrister here - the bewbs were a nice touch), the underground shootout last night was bullshlt, "Everything is fvcking", the way the guy who killed Paul just happened to know exactly which door he was going to walk out of (despite being told by the Catalyst honcho that the tunnels lead all over the city), shall I go on? I'll probably watch the finale, but part of me wants to sit it out in protest (as if HBO would care).

How ironic that VV's character is going to end as the most interesting in this season.

Note to TD writers: 4 story lines is too much. Go back to two, and make it interesting.

Paul might as well have not even existed this season, aside from the writers throwing a bone to the gay community and trying to make some "statement". He literally had nothing to do with anything.

Incredible that The Leftovers is looking more plausible than this show.

Here's part of the problem too: I have no idea in hell why HBO and Pizzolatto think each season has to be 8 episodes. Last season it worked just fine because you only had two people that the story revolved around. Almost every episode this season has been sightly longer than an hour and next week's finale is 90 minutes. That NEVER happened last season. Everything was under an hour and fit together well.

It's quite clear that this season needed a couple more (at a bare minimum) episodes to make things clearer and to explain the story better. I just feel like Pizzolato has handed his audience a 50,000-piece puzzle and said, "you have about 8 hours to put this together. By the way, there's no picture on the box for you to refer to so you can see what you're doing. Good luck!!"

I don't mind the longer run times; I would have killed for more air time with GOT.

But it only works if the longer air time is filled with interesting material. It's been hit or miss with TD this season.

I was hoping the Finale would at least tie things together in an interesting way. It didn't and I can't believe they f*cked up this season the way that they did. Not only did it make little sense, it was boring, and the characters ended up having little to do with the actual conspiracy.

They need to write down what worked in Season 1, what clearly didn't work this season, and figure out how to make this shit interesting again. If Season 3 is another clunker then the series may be headed for cancellation.
